I feel you on the whole not leaving the family behind kinda thing.. I stuck around instead of going off to college after highschool because my mom was left all alone, with the house we grew up in, a rental apt to take care of, and a very low paying job. Now that things have stabilized a bit, I'll be turning 24 in Dec, I've accomplished approximately 0 things I wanted in life, and I'm now considering joining the reserves or national guard so I can go back to school.

Hope it all works out for you, pick something you want and just go for it. If you wanna shoot giant fucking guns all day and retire in 20 years on government benefits, do it!

Ive been hopping around for a year and a half now...Ohio, NY, Washington, and now finally settled in Lawrence, Kansas. Long story short: from NY, did 2 years of college in ohio, took a year off stayed in ohio with my GF, went back to NY for the summer dumped my GF, moved to Washington this past summer/fall, got back with GF moved to Lawrence Kansas to go to KU and be with here in January. Now we are broken up for good.

yes im foolish, but I have 'spread my wings' so to speak and I have a bunch of good friends here in Kansas, and some great friends in Washington. You gotta put yourself first, figure out what YOU want and need in your life. As far as friends goes, get out there, be very open minded. Shit will work out, just be a go getter.

hate to be that guy but as you get older your friends will disappear and go about their lives.. unless you change with them along the same time table then the things you have in common with them will dwindle

at some point most people have to grow up, put away the toys and the games, and settle down... or go on some sort of adventure

you have a solid foundation of trades under your belt that will allow you to go anywhere and do anything and be successful at it, Id take what you have, and take a cross country road trip in the e30, meet up with everyone you talk to on here, make some great memories and closer bonds... then settle down in an area you enjoyed, raise a family if you so desire and then take that step at that point towards the next bigger thing

there's more to life than jerking off and mac n cheese. Getting married and "slowing" down a bit ain't that bad.

The grass is always greener on the other side. Don't forget to be happy with what you have too.

on the other hand, I think about wanting to go back to the U.S. alot too.

Once I get my Bachelor's degree I'm gonna up and move out to colorado or something just for a change. I've been around the Northern VA area for almost 24 years now and, while I do actually like being here and can see myself settling here, I just feel like I want to get up and go somewhere new. At the very least, it'll make for some new stories and I love to sit around with friends telling stories.

Before you go to the Navy, come down to OK. I've got a few weeks worth of house projects I could pay you for.

adopt a kid or something. Go to the gym or just go out to bars and chill and meet new people. You're stressing yourself too much.

Well shit, I just noticed this thread is from 2012.

He's got a real cutie on the go now, and they certainly look really happy together, so I'd say we're on an upswing.

@F34R, Man I still need to come down and meet you in person. Maybe 2016 will be the year?
