Battery died on my one night because the alternator charged intermittently since the cluster was out of the car. Jumped it with a friend's car and it charged enough to get it home. Put the cluster in the next day and never had a problem since

Two e30s with loose power wires to the coil.

Ran out of gas in both my e28s

Gas station here has shitty seals so when it rains water gets in the resevoirs. I filled up my car before an interview 20 miles from home. The final question he asked was "do you have a reliable means of transportation?" Everything went well, offered me the job. He walked out to shake my hand and as I tried to leave, my car started jolting and sputtering some nasty shit. It died right in the middle of the parking lot and would idle what I would expect a car would do if it had Parkinsons. Let's just say he called and took back the offer.

Yes, but it was kinda self inflicted.

I'm running across rt.49 in NC late at night around 65mph with 100watt bulbs in the mains and 50watt in the highs, and stock H3s in the fogs...all on and wonderfully bright. Suddenly everything goes black. Whoa!!

Everything runs, just NO LIGHTS! I pulled off and could not find any prob's, called the highway patrol and they gave me a lift to a motel where I spent the night.

The fuse box board was fried across the light circuit. Easy to fix during the day light!

Seriously guys? I can't believe this many of you have run out of gas. The E30 has a gauge and a light you know...

I've had my fair share of issues over the years, never ran out of gas though.

I ran out because my guage was still on the positive side of the last hash mark and my obc said I had 15 miles. It lied. LOL. Sooooo close to a station but alas.

Mine left me stranded twice and for the same thing every time. Fuel pump would give out once it was running for over an hour. Finally replaced my pump and no problems so far!

                    Nope. Not once...

Closest I came was an exploded clutch throwout bearing that let me limp around for a day until I could replace it.

e30 has been extremely reliable in the 13 years I've owned it!

My favorite was driving home from class on the highway the clutch finally gave up. I rolled to an exit ramp and was just hanging out in the back seat eating some chex mix and drinking some beer I forgot was in there. Best way to wait for a tow ever.

                        1) Half shaft came undone at diff - Fixed on roadside by borrowing 3 bolts from other side and limped home, allen headed bolts are easy to grab with vise grips haha.
                        2) Alt belt snapped - shoelace fix and got home
                        3) Motor mounts sheared off at track and ate my lower rad hose. Duct tape, cardboard, zipties and hose clamps, made it 150 miles home like that.
                        4) Automagic died. Had to drive in reverse to get home (only a half mile from home when it finally gave up the ghost).

                        Keep it slideways!!

In the 6 years of ownership, I have never once ran out of fuel (knock on wood). My CPS took a shit on me at 1am, after a local meet. Needless to say, one of the local friends had spares in the trunk and replaced it on,the spot.
Save my ass a tow for the year, btw thanks again "topless_e30fiend".

ran out of gas a few times when i was stupid/in high school,
                              fuel pump gave up once,
                              busted 2 oil pans,
broken intake/afm boot, car kept choking
broken notch on the throttle cable, so the car kept dying and wouldn't idle,
                              broken fan clutch & overheated,
got a flat tire on the way to some bischshaus, didn't have a sprare-tire jack since my dad broke it a year ago.

Blew a water pump on a road trip. That's it.
