I had a Chevy 1 ton truck back int he late 90's, think it was an '86 model with the 4.8 i6. Thing could barely get out of it's own way, but had no problem towing my 4 ton trailer - specially with the 4.10 and 6.xx:1 granny gear heh.
The X5 3.0si is actually rated at 6,000 lbs. works just fine. Even the M54, which is down like 40hp - is still rated at 6000lbs in the X5. :)

BMW can't build V8s for shit, no argument there. The only exception are the M motors, but even those have problems.

I find American companies innovate, then stop, then innovate some, then stop, while other manufacturers just keep on making improvements.

That speaks to a lot of it.

It's not the exact same setup as the dyno vid. The owner came in 2nd last year and the head cracked under the cam about 3 or 4 events later. He sent in the parts and I used a new core repeating what was done on the first head. Second head was 3hp down from the first, but it was enough to win this year. :Currently doing some research and flow testing, gonna up the game over the winter. Figured out yet another way to get more flow from just the valve jobber. The class doesn't allow porting except for gasket matching (which doesn't help the 885's).

Just scored a set of brand new old stock 9.7:1 NLA m20 Euro +.5mm pistons baby!!!!

Now to decide on what to do with them. My score of my decade, they rarely come up for sale used, never mind NOS and +.5mm. :)

Dang. The Euro contact only could find 5 of the 6 pistons, BUT happened to have a set of new on size. They are actually the Saudi/Gulf m20 pistons @ 9.4:1, not the early Euro 9.7:1, which is still ok. They will net 10.3:1 using an 84mm m52 crank. :)

Still purchased the 84mm set. I have a couple really clean m20 blocks that can just use a deglaze. :) He said if he comes across #6 for the 84.5mm set, I have dibs.
