    Has anyone tried/heard/considered juicing?

I just watched a documentary about it and it seems like a great way to reboot/cleanse the body while being healthy and losing weight.

Buddy just tried and quit three days into, takes a lot of discipline and he couldn't muster it.

My wife and I tried it, she quit at 10am the first morning and I quit at 6PM. We both had massive headaches.

          Exactly the same here.

Working at a fast food joint hasn't helped me in the slightest. 224 even for me
Want to get down to a 185/190 then build a solid 200

Id just learn to count calories and macronutrients because it will end up with a person learning how to eat like a normal weight person. That along with something like resistance training.
Weight loss will come from overall calorie deficit while pure fat loss will come from calorie deficit and meeting macronutrient requirements and resistance training.

Agree with this. If you have a smart phone there are tons of apps to help count calories and monitor your loss. I used one called Lose It. Had a graph you could punch in your weight and gave you a nice visual of your loss achievement. It also gives your approx calorie intake based off age, weight, height and loss goal by a certain date. Most supermarket foods are in there as well as restaurant foods plus it has a barcode scanner for anything not in there. The first few days I used it I ate like I had normally been and was shocked how many calories I was taking in. It's a bit more work to use but to see a visual how many calories you've eaten it's much easier to cut out unnecessary food. It's not going to 100% accurate but will be close enough and worked well for me. Lost 30lbs in around 9 months.

There's a better app called "MyfitnessPal"
It comes with a barcode reader, so no more manually punching in Nutrition information.

Honestly though, using those apps are only a start. After the first month or so, you get to the point where you don't even need it because you SHOULD know what to eat, and how much to eat; I came to a point in my previous weigh loss battle where I was just using the app to log weight loss because I liked seeing the graph lol

If you're eat right, it's VERY hard to hit 2k Calories a day, especially if you track macronutrients over calories. Many people think you can just count calories and that equals instant weight loss. Not True. I remember I had weeks where my calorie defects were close to 7000 (which, judging by the 3500=1Lb model, I should have lost 2lbs) but I only lost like .5lbs. If you're not getting enough macronutrients, your body goes into starvation mode and rations your caloric, fat, salt, and sugar levels. If your getting enough nutrients, your body doesn't do anything because it is getting the essentials it need to keep functioning. If you want effective weight loss, you have to count by macronutrients and make sure you're getting those before counting calories

I wanted to see how cutting soda and sweet tea from my diet would work. I would have maybe 3-4 cans a week 6 tops. I also cut all ice cream and switched to a tuna sandwich instead of a hamburger for lunch.

I dropped 3lbs my first week and I am down a total of 12lbs currently. I changed nothing in my habits or workout. Just cut stuff I really did not like. It is just normal to order a Dr. Pepper or coke every now and then. 90% of the time I order a sweet tea. That alone matches in sugar in soda.

Dropped a pant size too. Diet goes hand in hand with routine. This was over a course of 2-3 weeks.

My father has lost 120 pounds in the last year just using My Fitness Pal. He rides a stationary bike everyday for about and hour, and counts steps. He has walked over 20 million steps the last year. Its amazing what counting colories and simple exercise can do.

I switched to strictly water, 1 whole gallon a day; I don't leave home without a full gallon jug, and jus carry it around all day.

Dropped 9 pounds first week. Lets hope this momentum continues through the water weight loss phase into the cutting phase.

This might sound odd, especially since it gets pumped to us so often by people, but we don't listen: it helps if you consult your doctor before starting a weight loss plan. Bear with me.
I got my blood work and urine tested at my doctors office, and based on my body build, and numbers, he was able to recommend the best eating and diet regime to drop weight. I've been following it fairly well since (I've had a cheat day here and there)

It really does help to know the numbers behind your body

Hydration is really your best friend. It may seem counteractive, but you really can never drink too much water. When I was training for the SEAL program, I would easily drink six gallons a day. Of course I live in a high humidity area where I lose major fluids during a workout.

Do not get caught up in gimmicks. The only sure fire way to consistently maintain a healthy weight is to exercise and eat according to your goals. I usually consume around 6-7k calories a day, but it's in small evenly spaced out meals. The Navy told us that foods are healthiest when they resemble their original natural form.

As with anything, this is a mental process. This is why the fad diets never work, as you have to make a lifestyle choice to maintain. Sugar is necessary, soda is not. Fats are vital, fried food is not. Etc.

I advocate crossfit as it seems to be a healthy way to shape up, but really you can do effective training with a sledgehammer, your old tires and wheels, and the local playground. Compartmentalize, take it a day at a time.

                            Run.

Again, always hydrate. Water is your best friend.

                              Down to 176, from 220 @1/27/13.

I seem to fluctuate at this weight, need to push on to get the final 10#.

I agree with a lot of the above...calorie counting is only part of it. Nutrition awareness/value is the other. Learning to stop, portion control is another. When you get past some of the food 'addiction', it gets easier. I have a habit of taking a piece of fruit or two with me. Rather than eat something fast and bad, I'll eat the fruit. Same volume, better nutrition, far fewer calories.

                                Good job man!

I'm still fluctuating myself around 223 right now.
Trying to push past the plateau. Kinda reverted back to bad habits because of all the trips I've been on.
