Lots of traveling for work the past week made it a bit hard. A few summer parties, too. Keep it up! Stay on it, it will pay off!

I havent read this whole thread. But I tend to fluctuate anywhere between 170-190 depending on the season. Summers at 170, winters at 190 but its all leg muscle from snowboarding and 2k vert bootpacks at 5am.

I find being physically active is the most important for weight, not so much calorie intake or waht have you.

Honestly though, using those apps are only a start. After the first month or so, you get to the point where you don't even need it because you SHOULD know what to eat, and how much to eat; I came to a point in my previous weigh loss battle where I was just using the app to log weight loss because I liked seeing the graph lol

If you're eat right, it's VERY hard to hit 2k Calories a day, especially if you track macronutrients over calories. Many people think you can just count calories and that equals instant weight loss. Not True. I remember I had weeks where my calorie defects were close to 7000 (which, judging by the 3500=1Lb model, I should have lost 2lbs) but I only lost like .5lbs. If you're not getting enough macronutrients, your body goes into starvation mode and rations your caloric, fat, salt, and sugar levels. If your getting enough nutrients, your body doesn't do anything because it is getting the essentials it need to keep functioning. If you want effective weight loss, you have to count by macronutrients and make sure you're getting those before counting calories
        This ^

I lost overall 90lbs. I weighed 270lb my junior year in HS, that was in 2009. Now I'm at about 180 ish. All because I counted my calories and exercised daily.

The only bad thing about losing the weight, well for me is that a lot of people you know don't even recognize you. It's happened so much lol.

Down to 171 from 222. About 5 # to go. Have gone for a 40/42 waist size to 34 and those are starting to feel big, so I am probably around a 32. Now that we are moving into Autumn, I am digging out my warmer clothes and finding a lot of them don't fit, they are just too big. Last year I felt comfortable in an XL shirt, I find M is far better fit.

The last few pounds has been more of a challenge than the first.

Jinormous makes a great point, it is really about re-educating yourself, forming new habits, and breaking old ones. The apps DO help, but you can get yourself into new patterns, and it becomes easier to make the choices and avoid the mistakes that made you put the weight on.

"The only bad thing about losing the weight, well for me is that a lot of people you know don't even recognize you. It's happened so much lol"

That is true! I work from home, so I have clients I see face-to-face maybe 2-3 times a year. Some of them don't recognize me straight away when I walk into their office, it is a little bizarre and flattering at the same time.

I have to admit, I reflect a lot on my old habits, particularly when I am out and about and see someone about my old size and shape. I don't feel any pity, but I do sense a little frustration because it is so easy to eat healthier. Healthier habits seem to be shouted over by marketing and flashy packaging of foods that are unhealthy and highly profitable for the manufacturer. It makes feel like I was duped by shiny objects when the best choice were right in front of me all along.

I'm down around 55-60 lbs from my heaviest. I'm 5'10" and weigh about 160-165, was around 220 at my heaviest about 5-6 years ago. In my mind the best thing you can do is control portions, and try to eat healthier. Exercise and staying active is really helpful but I think portion sizes contribute a lot.

I drink mostly coffee and water during the week.

Currently on my 2nd run through of p90x.

Been many years that I have not had a little fat on my sides. I am proud that almost all of it is gone. I have dropped only to 235 but I have been building muscle at the same time. I am not watching the scale, IMO setting out for a number means nothing. I would rather get my goal look then a number. I am a proud 235, and my doctor said to not drop below 225. BMI does not mean anything, it differs from frame and build. Being 6'6'' I cannot afford to go that low. I am working on keeping weight and losing gut fat.

I have cut fast food 200% from my diet, drinking TONS of water. I start with a nice egg breakfast with bacon and a bagel(no topping). Bacon is fried up first and the egg is fried in the fat drippings. Tuna fish or a PBnJ for lunch, fruit when I am feeling peckish. Dinner before 9pm now and a glass of water before bed. I used to eat really late and never burn the calories when I turned in for bed around 2pm.

My workout is construction everyday, last week I have been busting a HUGE stone wall up and moving all the boulders. I can tell you one thing...I do not have anything left after work to do a gym. My job is a gym haha.

Down to 207 lbs. and 18% body fat since my last post in this thread in July, so down another 11 lbs. My new goal is 190 lbs. and 15% BF. Eating a 1k per day caloric deficit and for the last week, eating on an intermittent fasting schedule. I consume all my calories between 12pm and 8pm, and don't eat again until 12pm the next day. Drinking only water and kombucha, with the occasional RockStar Recovery in there (20 calories in a can and 6g of sugar), just because I love the jolt and the lemonade.

I've never taken deliberate note of my weight, only how I look. Right now, I'm not happy. At all. I've started eating lower calorie meals, cutting way down on snacking and joined a gym. Make it a point to use my roommate's elliptical machine nightly. I just throw on the Netflix and detach myself from how the excersize is making me feel.

I'm at around 175 now, I'd say I'd probably be looking slim at 160 or so, then I can worry about bulking up muscle.

I get clowned on for wanting to focus more on cardio instead of getting jacked but I really just want to burn off my jiggly spots first. I'm thinking I'm going to enter a Mud Hero 6k obstacle race coming up in July, so I have my work set out for me to be able to finish that.

Nothing at all wrong with this approach, it worked well for me. Everyone will have their own opinions and you need to find what works for you.

Wow, totally under ate yesterday and when I got to the gym I couldn't lift or get reps worth a shit. I'm still not feeling right after that. I really learned quickly that it's a slippery slope between fueling your body and still creating a calorie deficet. Have to maximize real nutrition with a smaller ammount of intake.

I wouldn't totally abandon lifting weights. Especially if you do something like circuit training where you keep your heart rate up (cardio), but are also building muscle.

I have to quit being lazy, I've put the 15lbs I lost up to December back on, and I still needed to lose more than that.

you want to find a balance of weight lifting, cardio & eating. Not eating and working out don't work like you experienced, no energy.
                                I lift for 30-40 mins
then do cardio for an hour. Mix it up. I do plyometrics 2 times a week, some days just get on elliptical for an hour (every couple of weeks turn up the resistance), now I just started HIT training (sprint 30sec (11-12mph) then jog 2mins sprint 30sec keep repeating for an hour)
eat at least 5 little meals a day. it's about every 3 hours they say. don't eat fast food and soda
"I wanna see da boat movie"
"I got a tree on my house"
