Wow I feel small now. I need to eat more.
Only picture I've got while working out, sadly. I never think about pictures. Here is my max DL pull. 175kg. Made SURE someone snapped that one! I was shaking on the pull, took 10 seconds to get it up but I locked out.

This is pretty cool honestly. Nothing against those that don't lift but its cool to find common ground with others in the community outside our love for the almighty e30!sigpic

-Jeff Mad Dog Madden“Down the road, in a gym far away
A young man was heard to say
“No matter what I do, my legs won’t grow!”
He tried leg extensions, leg curls, leg presses too
Trying to cheat, these sissy workouts he’d do!
From the corner of the gym where the big guys train
Through a cloud of chalk and the midst of pain
Where the big iron rides high, and threatens lives
Where the noise is made with big forty-fives
A deep voice bellowed as he wrapped his knees
A very big man with legs like trees
Laughing as he snatched another platefrom the stack
Chalked his hands and monstrous back
Said, “Boy, stop lying and don’t say you’ve forgotten!
Trouble with you is you ain’t been SQUATTIN’!”2008 335i - n54b30

I’ve been lifting off and on for the past 20-years. Nothing competitive just for fun, really for me it’s a stress relief. If I’m having a tough time getting stressed at work I can roll into the gym, get a lift in and talk to my buddies and when I leave an hour later I feel a million times better. It’s like Cheers except with steel instead of beer.
I don’t follow any particular routines, what I’ve been doing for the last few years is pretty consistent. Most work sets are in the 3~8 rep range, I focus on the big movements. Really I’ve got some goals that I’d like to hit that I’m attempting to work towards, sometimes life gets in the way of that and I’m in the gym 1x/week.
For a few years I lifted with a few guys in a barn that were competitive powerlifters, they lifted APF/AAPF. I learned a bunch and saw some giant lifts. For a while, once per month the guy with the barn would hold Friday night squatting, and open it up to all the powerlifters in the area. He’d have 20 guys in the barn squatting in the monolift, saw a few guys go over 1000lbs. Those were fun nights. I saw someone mention the Metal Militia guys, I took their seminar a few years back, they came out to the barn.
I screw around with a few of the strong man stuff too, they can be fun, just the log and a some tire flipping. That log press by peteD is impressive. Took me awhile to figure out the trick that you can’t “clean” it.Last edited by JeffRR; 06-27-2013, 05:25 AM.Comment

It's back day today!!! By far my favorite.
JeffRR-
Watching guys squat 800+ is always awesome. I've told a few people about my buddy Justin Graalfs who squats over a 1000lbs....most people don't believe you until you whip out the handy dandy youtube and show him doing it.
Epic feats of strength are inspiring.sigpic

Can this be my training log too?
Yesterday was bullshit day. Last week I finished up Bill Starr/Glenn Pendlays 5x5 9 week program. It was pretty decent. So this week Im doing stuff I wanna do/feel like doing/etc.. Think I may do a hybrid Pendlay/Texas Method 5x5. Monday (volume)/ Wednesday (light)/ Friday (intensity)
Ended up with:
-Ramped set of front squats - ramp up to 135x5 (extremely sore legs from Monday)
-Flat bench press 5x5 at 135#
-Arnold press with light weight 8x5x3
-Jerk and Snatch form checks with empty bar in front of the mirror - focusing on intensity
By the end of this workout I was spent. Light day wednesday! Yeah! Cant wait for PR friday!

That sounds like a great time. The best part about lifting is that its the perfect accessory hobby to so many other great things. Motorcycles, cycling, climbing, rowing, putting a roof on your house and carrying 32 bundles of architectural shingles up the ladder, skiing, surfing, etc..I’ve been lifting off and on for the past 20-years. I think this would be a great place for a log. I'll post up my back day later on. I went somewhat heavy last week, but I'm feeling really good today......new PR perhaps.sigpic

Anyone got a decent 4 day split, but without legs. Before I get bashed. My legs have always been my strong point. They're comically big compared with my chest, and arms (go figure).
So I'm looking at something that is high volume on my arms to shock them into growth mode. I'm also running on my off days to try lean out and drop a little bulk off my legs. Wanna do this for 6-8 weeks.
P.S. gotta have deals in the workout, my fav exercise ever

Squat high weight low rep. My legs leaned out a whole lot compared to velo/track riding (low weight high rep essentially) in the cycling world where my thighs were massive.Anyone got a decent 4 day split, but without legs. Fuck the split routines. Just lift heavy 3 times a week using compound lifts (as prescribed in this thread over and over) and use that extra day in the gym for something fun and cardio based.
Compound lifts = Squat, Deadlift, Press, Pull
