There are quite a few that is for sure. Some of the strongest guys in Crossfit come from this area. I spent a lot of time in the gym and found it pretty boring. Crossfit is very competitive and that was what I was drawn to. Today I am in better shape than I have ever been in my entire life due to it.

Gym isn't boring when you chase PR's =-).

I have been to 1 crossfit gym down here it was nice.

However I do not agree with their prices, also interestingly enough crossfit competitiveness is what I dislike as well. It just at certain times it seems they throw safety out the window to best the next person, and some of the exercises are questionable. I do like the fact that many more people are getting physical fit because of it, but sometimes they carry an attitude I do not like, and the girls are usually hot.

Every day I chase a PR, as I have been doing it for years now and the workouts are rotated as per the programer.

Our Box is one of the highest priced boxes out there Im sure. Just being on Miami Beach and literately backed by Reebok. One of the few boxes that is licensed to use the name Reebok in their name. But look what you get for that price. Today we had 3 instructors watching a class of 12. That is almost personal training. What is the cost of personal training at any local 24 hour or LA fitness gym? I try to go 5 days a week and dont look at the cost as a factor as I feel I am getting more than I pay for.

Crossfit is a brand that boxes buy into. It really comes down to the coaches and training. Form is very strictly enforced at our box. You will be asked to lower weight if form is out, or even personally change the workout for someone due to form issues. Most likely a mobility issue. Most of our workouts are OLY based. And I have yet to see a questionable movement. There is a cult following in crossfit and I dont buy into it. I go work out and go home.

AS for the girls, some of the finest women in south beach go to our box. Its almost like you are in Maxim heaven every day at the box!

I think that is a result of the idea that it is a more sociable physical fitness movement.

The problem lies with the fact that mainly women(but people in general) feel like they can go to the gym without being associated as too manly/meathead/lunk. Before if women went to the gym to do anything other than cardio they would probably be stereotyped as big and full of muscles. The irony in that is the average person does not understand just how hard it is to achieve a muscular physique in terms of working out and following a diet. So doing crossfit for the average women(or person) is more "acceptable" than strictly "lifting weights". Of course this applies to men as well, one example of this is Planet fitness.. they shun the standard "weight lifter" for a more "refined modern fitness", and Cross Fit sells this.

In the end what ever you do, as long as you do it right, consistently follow a good program and have a decent diet you will see results.

Had a few workouts in since I posted last. My leg workout was awesome, can't remember everything I did but I went full conventional ass to grass for multiple sets.

I did chest and tri's yesterday, just flat out blistered my pecs. I always warm up with pull-ups, then super set those or some pulling motion between presses.

                        Bench-

                        135x10
                        185x10
                        205x10
                        225 - 3x10

                        incline

                        pump sets

                        135 for 4x12

super set - standing cable flies with incline DB flies (at the end of the DB's I would pump out some strict presses)

                        Dips

                        body weight 4x12
                        v-bar pull downs 4x12
                        tri extensions 4x12

My man boobies are sore today!

great to see a thread like this. everyone on here is pushing some serious weight.

I'm curious, however, what is the average time for an entire workout?
For me, its no more than 30 - 45 mins and my breaks are no more than 1 minute long.

For example, here is a break down of my shoulder day routine for yesterday:

                          1) Treadmill 1 mile in 7:30 mins

                          ______Repeated for 3 sets__________________
                          2a) Clean and Press @ 115 lbs x 15
-Instead of resting, go straight to Barbell upright rows
                          2b) Barbell upright rows @ 45 lbs x 15
-Rest 45 seconds and go back to Clean and Press
                          -----------------------------------

                          ______Repeated for 3 sets__________________
                          3a) Dumbbell side lateral raises @ 15lbs x 15
-Instead of resting, go straight to Dumbbell front lateral raises
                          3b) Barbell upright rows @ 15 lbs x 15
-Rest 45 seconds and go back to Dumbbell side lateral raises

                          4b) Barbell shoulder press @ 65 lbs x 15

I see why you're so sore bro! You're doing enough reps and sets for 2 days worth of workouts. Why not just ramp up with less reps for warm up, and then run a 3x3 or 3x5 at 90% 1RM? You'd get the same effect at the end of the day and be able to put 50 more pounds on the bar.

Honest question. Seems like over training to me. Unless that weight is just easy-peasy for you. No idea what your 1RM is.

dude just because I said I work 1 muscle doesn't mean it's not working the other lol.
for chest I do bench, that works the shoulder and tri. I do rows, that works the back and bi. squats etc etc etc

did you see what I put in the parentheses?

been working out for 10+ years, this works for me maybe not everyone else. Went in bod-pod and had 10% body fat and I'm 225 I would think I know something.

I see no valid point here even still. Did you even read what a compound lift is? I dont think you did. Compound lifts work for everyone and are for everyone. I know that because healthy "normal" humans all share the same movement characteristics. It appears that you do in fact do know something, but not everything. So go ahead and read up on compound lifts anyways.

Congrats on being a 6'5 lean hulk monster of a man at 225lbs with 10% body fat if thats really true. I'd like to know your diet.
