You must live near or in GA. You better scoop it up before I get the money and decide I want it! The Euro spec one that Chance had mentioned was listed for for >$5000, because it was in so-so condition (faded paint, etc.)

I have had a man crush on the 190 Evo II for so long. I was thinking about it today actually. If I could get one, I would.

If you update the injection and ignition system you free up quite a bit of power iirc. Plus they have super stiff chassis and crazy nice 5 link rear suspension which was unheard of in that day.

Wh33lhop i've done research on that too, and have read up on that as well. If I buy, it would be something to invest in down the road after my initial checkup/maintenance of the car.

That bronze one was a turbo diesel. Just 16v kitted -flares & wing.

Second pic is an evo 1. Imo looks aay better than an evo 2

If you find one and feel the price is agreeable, then I say go for it.

That being said, they are extremely limited on mods. Front camber plate setups will run you quite a bit more than a couple hundred dollars. Coilovers are almost nonexistent. It's not EFI, so you're going to be very limited in terms of tuning (unless you convert it, which can be big $ if you don't have great sources). Just saying, be prepared.

Do the right thingand get an e30 and a w201 ;)

I recently sold my cossie 5spd. Didn't really give it a chance, but started looking at the aftermarket costs and it was becoming a huge $$$ on paper to get to an enjoyable point. Seats sucks, shifter sucks, slow, never passes smog...made a good noise and good thumbs-ups though

Several bosses ago I got to "help" bring a very disused bronze one back to working order. It was "fixed" with the very minimum of expenditure, and was not a prime example of the model.

As much as I like the features and style of the 16 valver, it's just not worth the headache from what I saw. It's not terribly fast, it feels heavy (very much M-B, not much different from a regular 190), and then you have to maintain the thing. The parts are more expensive than M3 bits, hard to find aftermarket alternatives, and mostly a dealer sourcing affair.

The seats are simply great for someone of OWG build/shape. The driving position is pretty good, and the dogleg transmission is charming despite the rubbery feel, but the clutch was vague. IIRC the tacked on 16v bits weren't affixed nicely, and the paint was not great on this car.

The engine is not the rev happy beast you would expect, and seemed almost coarse, more of an 8v feel. While I assume the engine would sound nice the exhaust had a leak that was never fixed when I got to drive it.

Frankly, I don't see what all the fuss is about as it's basically a solid M-B that is about 150hp short of being a fun car. Then again, this example wasn't great, and I never got to drive it on fun roads.

But if you can afford one, and like the model the bronze one I refer to above is still parked at 1127 Sunshine Ave, Leesburg, FL 34748 according to google. If you want one give it a shot, you can probably get it for below market, although it's probably worse than last I saw it.

Edit: I just realized I bought a rather similar car in my H5S, aggressive body work, dogleg, monowiper. But more power, which is what the 16v needs. So, um, look for Hartges/Alpinas instead.

                                This 100%.

Mercedes-Benz makes great touring cars. The Cozzie looks like, and wants to be a sporty car, but it simply isn't, at least in US, non-Evo trim.
