my 190d is pretty light for a sedan, but it is the lightest production 190. I think somewhere around 2600pds. Anyways +1 on a cruiser the gearing is looooooong.

For everything the car lacked, it did put a huge smile on my face from the WOT growl. Wasn't going anywhere very quickly but the noise gave those old DTM feels.1989 325is / 2.7, 274 cam, e30 M3 5-lug

Wow that's fantastic! I'll update a few more things and give it a very basic econo tune (been looking at the memory and I can change a few minor things... damn no efi!) and see if I can get 30. I'll be really happy with 30.Comment

Get both!
That being said, I snagged this one on a whim off local CL, needed some love. How bad could it be, it'll be fun I thought...
I'm now paying for it on the back end. Timing gears/chain crap, head rebuild, ground control coilovers, 3 piece amg wheels I just had to have, and so on.
Parts can get expensive and are increasingly hard to find. Many NLA. It may not be fast when its done, but I fell in love w/ the looks/dtm history.
Service history/care and stuff would be high on my list if I were doing it over again.Comment

One of my german uncles has two.
One is a 190 2.3 with glossy hubcaps. Other is a 2.5-16 cozzzie.
Reminds me that he had a stroke last year and I need to go visit him. :/
Both cars are pretty tight. The non-cozzy handles like it's on rails too. Both are 5spds too :)

He lives in the Dusseldorf area, same area where my German plates are from.
The only time I ever went the Ring was with him as a kid.

what about something like this for a daily?: http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/cto/4343904416.html
Don't care as much if it's an auto, just looking for something dependable and rwd. Owning a car with decent paint that's worth washing would be nice too. However, I'm interested in long term mods, ie; manual swap, engine, suspension, etc. I love the style of these Mercs more than BMW 5 series really, just the lack of manual transmissions has always turned me away.Comment

If you already have an E30 you might try looking for a 300TE wagon. More power, more useful, more? As to manual transmissions, the vast majority of MBs in Europe of that era had manuals, and finding swap stuff, while not cheap is not awful either.
Edit: While looking for 300TEs on local CL I found one with an E30 pictured next to it!Comment
