I called and he said he'd do $2000. A wagon would be much preferred, though. I really want this but it's way too much money: http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/cto/4332723490.html

I don't know how prices are in W MI, but around here that Legacy would be under 3k, and more likely sub 2 even with the low mileage. You know that Subaru also made a turbo version of the Legacy generation before that one, right? Good examples can be found around the 3k mark.I called and he said he'd do $2000. Back to M-B, $2000 seem like a more fair price for a nice 190e. Is it practical? I dunno, but surely the regular 190 owners on here could say.Comment

for that price could pic up a 2.6 instead of a 2.3. 190s are practical, more rear leg room than an e30, and the trunk is as large even with the fuel tank in there. It's also 5 lug and imo a better cruiser than an e30, and if you wanted to convert to a 16v all parts are interchangeable unlike e30 vs e30 m3.

That wagon looks like a great starting point! And it had the headlight wipers!Too expensive IMO.
If you already have an E30 you might try looking for a 300TE wagon. More power, more useful, more? As to manual transmissions, the vast majority of MBs in Europe of that era had manuals, and finding swap stuff, while not cheap is not awful either.
Edit: While looking for 300TEs on local CL I found one with an E30 pictured next to it!
If that's a real sportline snag it up! Manual transmission I believe came standard on all sportlines along with better suspension. Plus it has an upgraded interior.
The color would look fantastic on a lot of wheel choices as well. Some people hate maroon, but I like it.Comment

Seems like the majority of 300TEs around here did, sort of DC/Northern VA spec. Ooh, I found a manual transmission and pedal set on fleabay too, tempting. That wagon looks like a great starting point! And it had the headlight wipers!

How would you visually differentiate a Sportline from a regular M-B anyway?Comment

From the outside? A little lower. AFAIK. Inside had some changed up tidbits like seats, knob... something else I'm sure. I can't find a good run-down of the differences online though. My powers of google must be weak tonight.Comment

I was thinking that they all came with exterior badges, but I've seen a few alleged sportlines that didn't have any exterior badging so perhaps it was optional?Comment
