There are a couple private car appraisers in the area. One was recommended to me by BMW Oregon CCA.

I brought a stack of receipts for my e30, they would not cover any of it. The extra cost was not worth it for broken glass and hitting a deer.~ Puch Cafe. ~ Do business? feedback ~ Check out my leather company ~

"Only insure hot rods" lol. They will insure just about anything, lots of my local friends have them for their e30's, and an 86 944 turbo we are working on at the shop has them.

I guess where i'm leading at is, in case something would happen and it was a total loss...would they give you 14k for it?

I tried doing this for one of my cars.
It was fucking tough because every Classic Car Insurance has their own stipulations and it's not easy to get in if you're young.
Here's some of em that I remember off the top of my head from talking to their agents:
American Collectors:
Must have at least 10 years of driving experience, if you have less like me, you can squeeze through but only if you have NO traffic tickets. Doesn't matter if you got the point taken off or not, if it's a ticket you're fucked. Gotta wait it out.
Hagerty:
They're a bit more lenient when it comes to YOU, but for your cars, you gotta have a daily that's not the one you're trying to insure (okay, that's fine). But this is where they fuck you, your daily has to be something like 10 years old.
Both companies let me appraise my car for whatever I felt was fair, the premium just goes up accordingly.
So for my 318is, I was quoted $550/yr for an 11k agreed value.

$47/month isn't that bad, i guess it depends on the miles driven and record...mine is like $35/month with Geico, and im sure they won't give me 11k for my car should anything happen!

Interesting. So my situation is that I have a company car and an old Volvo (95) that my wife drives. I'm also 33 with a clean driving record.sigpic

I tried Hagerty and told the truth on the application:
Garaged? No mods? Yes, good.
I take the E30 to work sometimes. Shock! Horror! Oh No!
I take the E30 shopping sometimes. Shock! Horror! Oh No!
They wanted me to belong to a car collector club. R3V and MaxBimmer? ShockHorror OhNo absolutely doesn't count at all, never, what am I trina pull etc.
Now insured for liability, fire, theft and collision for $237/yr with the same company that covers my house and DD, and I get to drive it sometimes. So can my wife, but not my 19 yo son (muted shock and horror).

I actually had Hagerty up until June of last year. I could drive it to work, drive it to the store, whatever I wanted as long as I didn't go over the stated yearly mileage. Your daily has to be 10yrs newer than the car you are covering, not that your daily can't be more than 10yrs old (my Excursion and Odyssey are both 2000 models, 12yrs old at the time).
How about someone read the policy instead of listening to hearsay on r3v.
They will even cover a half done project.
All I needed proof of was a garage (stated in the policy), how many miles I drove a year (stated in the policy), how much value wanted covered, pics of the car, and that my daily had full coverage. Got them in 2012, so was never asked about how many years I had been driving (kind of obvious for a 35yr old at the time). Policy was $280/yr which covered 50miles of towing on a guaranteed flat bed for $10k stated value.
Yes, they will cover. E30 got in an accident and they promptly paid for the full value and allowed me to buy the car back.
