Full coverage at an agreed upon value. Probably costs as much as insuring a daily driven E90 but I can drive it as I please for the few months a year it's covered.

When we got Hagerty, it was less expensive than having the e30 under full coverage and the daily's basic, even though we had to move the other two vehicles to full coverage to get the Collector coverage. Total yearly premiums went down by $600-ish, not bad considering under standard insurance, the e30 was the only one fully covered.

They went up quite a bit over the last couple years for everybody. My father still has his c3 Stingray (he has had Hagerty since he bought it in 08), his premium is still $240 for $20k. Had the e30 covered for 1/2 that and paid more than him.

Yeah, now to have insurance that let's you have an e30 daily and a "garage queen". Just picked up a nice 2dr for the wife, very minty 88 that just needs a little massaging. The Excursion is her daily and $125/wk gas bill is killing us :(

Now the daughter just passed her written drivers' test and wants an e30,b ut everyone down here thinks they are gold, or turn them into race cars (Florida treats cars well, cept for the dash etc getting sunburned), have to wait for a good deal to come around.

I'm 19, soon to be a full time student again with 2 cars. I can only afford the insurance because I'm lucky enough to be on my parent's policy. There's no way I'd be able to afford that + the Mini I just bought and now daily.

Did you miss the part that Collector insurance has a far less premium than regular insurance?

                ForcedFirebird,

So essentially, as long as you have a daily that is 10yrs newer and fully insured, then Hagerty is fine?

Obviously I still think my age + needing a working odometer would be my biggest holdback.

I've nothing more to say about insurance except that it's good to explore options. BTW dude, I LOVE your car. It's hilarious, awesome, and way cooler than all the time I was wasting smoking pot at your age.

i'm 43, married, no tickets or accidents. we pay about 1200.00/yr for full coverage on 4 vehicles through 21st century. 2013 pilot, 1999 f350, 2006 525i, and my 92 mtech 2.

i know if i ever crash the mtech, i will play hell getting them to pay me what its worth, however, i can dd it without breaking any bullshit classic insurance rules.

I have full comp/collision/whatever on mine. I daily around Chicago and work near a mall. Can't risk not having coverage.

Sometimes I miss DD'ing a $150 k-car with liability. Go ahead and hit me you fuckers! Damn those were the days.

I have my 1991 318is insured for $25K through Grundy. I tired Hagerty but they didn't like the fact that my daily driver is a 1992 325i E36. So Grundy insured my E36 too for $12K. The only catch is you have to insure three cars (on being a classic car) in order to get this policy.

Good to know. I have 2 street e30's and an e36. The 2dr is the only one I'm interested in the Classic coverage, though. Are the premiums comparable to Hagerty?
