Gah, I excitedly started my application with Hagerty and met every single requirement but age. :(Last edited by Raxe; 01-15-2014, 07:21 PM.Comment

I'm screwed. I put 12k+ miles per year on my e30. I don't have a 'daily driver', I have 3 vehicles that I drive year round, depending on how I feel that day. I want an agreed value policy for $20k. Can't be done. No way, no how. Regardless of my driving record, my age, my other vehicles, or how much I'm willing to pay. Nobody will consider it. My only option for agreed value is for me to stop driving my e30 so much. I didn't build it to sit in the garage. Not happening.
I currently have a stated value policy for $20k, in which I fully expect to get boned in the event of a claim. It's about $90/month with $500 col/comp deductibles and 50/100/50 stacked coverage and limited tort. My e34 and Volvo are $14 month each with no col/comp. I'm 28 with a clean record and have been on the same policy for 8 years.Comment

Liability on everything. Rover, Touring, e46, and both e28s. Insurance sucks dick. Gonna get boned anyways if you drive anything over 10 years old, so why pay big bucks?
I'm 24 and I get at least one ticket every 3 years, usually about the same time my last ticket is expiring off my record. -6 points currently. :/1974.5 Jensen Healey : 2003 330i/5Comment

I'm 23, have an immaculate driving record, and have the following thru state farm.
Full coverage on the e36 m3 and e46 m3.
PLPD on the ix
Fire and theft on the project car till its on the road again. Then I'll be seeking something along the lines of full coverage.sigpicComment

Yes, "full" coverage on my e30s. But I'd like something custom once one is moving again.

Still not sure what I'm going to do once I get my project car where I want it. I want to eventually get another M Coupe too... but the newest one I'd want (2002) would be 12 years old right now... so that doesn't help with the 10 year old DD rule for Hagerty. Does that mean I lease something new, stay under the mileage on the lease, write off the lease expenses somehow through a new business and actually drive the cars I want to drive? Maybe.
Someone would make a killing if they would insure people who like to actually drive their old/custom cars with what the owner wants their car valued at. Insurance companies make enough to create such a side company.
This has been discussed more than a few times, but we deserve more options.Comment

Idk if my info is helpful cause I don't have an E30 but here it goes....
I'm 20 with a 91 M5 and 92 525 2 tickets (failing to turn on a right lane must turn right and illegal left turn over a double yellow line) and one at fault accident (it was a set up). I have super full coverage with UD coverage and I'm fully covered the same if I'm driving someone else's car, for $186 a month with USAA

I have full coverage, agreed value at 8k, with a 1500 deductible for 27 bucks a month. My 2012 FJ adds another 47 and change.
28, clean record, in Wyoming. I also have my 2012 FJ Cruiser on the same type of coverage, but no agreed upon value.
Out here in Wyoming, its pretty rare to have multiple car collisions, so I could probably get away with liability, but the FJ has payments and the e30 would suck to replace.
Ive found that larger deductibles (lets be real it really doesn't take much to get over 1500, and anything less than that isn't worth going through insurance, and the state you live in to be the largest variables.
I also only put about 7-8k miles on the FJ a year, and trending towards about 5k miles on the BMW.Back to my roots

My iS only has basic PLPD, mostly because the body needs work.
If I ever put new fenders on it, straightened the rocker lips, fixed the quarter trunk pocket and painted it, I would probably insure it much better. In its current state visually, I doubt it would be appraised for much.
If I ever get my M3 on the road, it will have full coverage. Just in case.Originally posted by priapismMy girl don't know shit, but she bakes a mean cupcake.Originally posted by shamesonUsually it's best not to know how much money you have into your e30Comment

Assuming the car gets wrecked, its usually not in a time or place where you can be like, hold on let me get my insurance fraud compliant cluster in there, just takes a second...Back to my roots

The right way to do it would be to have two clusters and cycle them, that way you split the difference on mileage. Each one gets 6k miles a year which falls under the policy requirements. It's fraud though no matter how you slice it.Comment
