Why do people drink protein shakes when they're trying to lose weight? First of all, they are not a replacement for a proper meal. Second, protein shakes are for adding weight in the form of muscle at the gym. If you're not going to the gym, it's just gonna turn to fat. Get rid of the protein shakes.
Whey protein is one of the top 5 best Protein:Calorie for foods. Yes, if you are not working out, it doesn't help, but eating anything and not working out will gain fat mass.

Im running a lot more than I was before. I am also going to try this mini diet that Mr Burns recommended to me. Im starting the diet on sunday and going to do it for 3 weeks.
Overall though, I feel better because Im more active and have been dating more too so thats motivating me to lose some weight. None of the girls seem to think I need to lose weight so thats a plus. Its probably more in my head than anything else, but Im going to keep running and working on the cardio, if these dates keep going well, I'll need that extra stamina ;D

you guys need to get this diet shit out of your heads, they don't work. You need to change your lifestyle and eat healthy always, adopt it, diets don't work.
I'm down to 9% bf and weight 215 which is awesome because I'm keeping my muscle, 3% more to go, probably will hit it end of month, then it's maintain for ever after that.
all you need is 30mins of cardio a day if you eat right. remember
work smarter, not harder!
"I wanna see da boat movie"
"I got a tree on my house"
I run 30+ minutes already and I eat healthy. Not everyone has Abercrombie & Fitch figures so they have to do a little more to lose the belly. Ive ALWAYS had a belly. I also eat healthy. My Dr. has told me that I am in good health.

"Diets don't work" I've lost 55lbs. Ok. And I still have all my muscle from weight training all those years ago. I literally carry around pinball games at work, so call that my workout!
Changing my diet is part of changing my lifestyle. Eating right is "going on a diet."
There's a weight loss diet, a weight maintenance diet, and a weight gain (muscle or fat) diet. Changing your diet is synonymous with going on a diet. Once you reach your goal weight you change your diet (go on a diet) to a weight maintenance diet.
So instead of a diet of refined sugar and carbs, I'm on a diet of lean meat and vegetables. Results speak for themselves.
"All you need is 30 mins of cardio" Everyone is different. Please don't be so cut and dry about everything.
Seems like your diet is pretty good. Try using low fat or almond milk for your protein shake if you're not already. The morning runs should be enough so don't worry if you're not seeing changes, it'll take time, but you'll start losing weight just keep excising. Also stay hydrated (water) at all times. No juices or soda. Protein, low carbs and good fats are what will help you.
I lost over 90lbs and I started doing what you're doing now. Also counting your calories helps out, it did for me.
diets are temporary, lifestyle changes are permanent.
Maybe I'm being pedantic, but changing your diet temporarily, until you reach your goal weight and change it again, is "going on a diet" two, in fact. When you get older and your nutritional needs change, you'll go on a different diet. And changing your diet (going on a diet) is a lifestyle change. Lifestyle changes are not always permanent. Think of what you might be doing in 10 years vs what you were doing 10 years ago, and what you thought back then about what you would be doing now.
What I think you guys are actually shunning is the quick fix as seen on TV diets.
when people say diet, majority are quick fix (what I was meaning)
that doesn't work k.
Here's what I have ate so far today
2 scoop protein shake with water, 2g fat, 6g carbs, 50g pro
oat meal, 6g fat, 54g carb, 10g pro
4oz chicken plain around 4g fat, 0g carb, 36g protein
100g sweet potato around 20g carbs
1 cup bell pepper around 5g carbs
32oz of water
so far.......
I have the last 2 months of what I ate everyday on excel spreadsheet if anyone wants to see. I haven't been super strict but it works.
There are some bullshit quick fix diets, yes absolutely, and there are some really good ones like what I'm doing. But it, get this, is a quick fix, you lose like 15lbs the first month, and 5-10 lbs a month after that. It's an FA/OA (food addicts, and over eaters anonymous) diet that really kicks it's ass for the morbidly obese. And technically 6' 250lbs is morbidly obese. The diet is no flour, no sugar, no highly processed foods. It's by no means the end all weight loss diet that everyone must stick to, because I've lost weight with just exercise and a crap diet, just this diet, and with both this diet and exercise. I'm also not eating soy, or crap with soy or corn added, which is just about EVERYTHING.
It's a great starting point if you're not really into exercise, but realize that you will plateau just like any other diet and have to up your game. I noticed that I plateaued around 40lbs loss and had to start being more active. It had a lot to do with depression too, since at that time my life was pretty fucked up. So, it's a huge, flexible every changing life you're living and find what's best for you.
It's not a low carb fad, it's eliminating refined sugar and simple carbs, or as we like to call em, predigested food. Predigested food like bread and fruit juice spike blood sugar, fuck with metabolism, set off a brain reward reaction that causes actual addiction, and get sent quickly to fat storage. Eating whole, fresh, unprocessed foods high in fiber allow your body to slowly process the energy and keep blood sugar in a more stable flux. It also makes you poop like a god.
Once I've reached my maintenance weight I'll up the calories and reintroduce a tiny little bit of refined carbs and sugar. Maybe start an actual exercise regimen. Depending on what I look like when I'm at my goal weight of 180lbs. I don't want to be yoked or anything, but I'm already packing some nice looking muscle underneath the fat, I have big shoulders, arms, legs, nice ass and even that ab cut that points at my crotch. Just all under a little bit of fat.
