6 hours of driving (round trip), $50 for a dolly rental (my truck doesn't have enough power to pull a trailer + car) and $50 in gas is a pretty big gamble on cars that might be massive piles.
The m3 probably doesn't even drive, the owners' definition of driveable is probably that it can move around in the driveway at 2mph while loudly gouging the drivers' rear tire. Also, for $6-8k I could get a 350z, so fuck that noise
The $900 vert... holy shit that thing looks rough. Probably a massive pile. That and you need a cage/rollbar/hardtop to run at the track with a vert
The e46 is probably riddled with issues. If I were a betting man I'd guess the subframe is ready to tear out, judging from the mileage. That, and e46s can be found in that ballpark in my area too
The red e36 is probably the nicest car posted, but its concerning that he only took one picture from what seems like about 30 feet away. This is a big ol craigslist red flag for me. Probably also a pile.
Oh well, thanks for posting anywayComment

really? why? i've heard they work fairly good as drift cars.
they're not fast, but they didn't really feel slow. granted, i've only driven them on the street before, and that was for work, so it's not like i was beating on them hard or anythingComment

OP, look for a Peugeot 505. Turbo or V6 model.
You will not be disappointed.

These cars are comfy as FUCK. And fast. And RWD. And standard LSD. And handle fantastically for what they are - body roll yes, but with crazy control.

I've certainly noticed that nothing decent and remotely enthusiast-friendly is easy to find cheap anymore. When I was looking for a new fun project car, I was looking for months at all kinds of cars (Z31 300ZXs, RX7s, 240SXs, Starions, etc) before I settled on E30s and found mine, which I jumped on almost purely on the fact that it ran well, had working AC and no rust. Miatas actually seemed pretty easy to find but I don't do convertibles and I already have something totally impractical that I DD (my motorcycle). I didn't even consider E36s because they're heavy and I don't like how they look, but they seemed to be cheaper than good E30s.Comment

*cough S12 200sx cough*
Project, yes. But Cheap RWD that's easy as fuck to work on and dori dori. I would know.Comment

I paid 2500 for my 1997 328is coupe 2 months ago. Its in decent shape, m3 body, haven't put anything into it and have been daily driving it. Makes for a fun winter car.
Paid 3000 for my e30 a year ago...I will easily sink another 3000 into it by the end of this summer...
So why did you cut up your e30 in the first place?
I hope you found some matching wheels for your truck before you go buy another project.sigpic

Reliable, fast, cheap
Pick two. You can't realistically expect to have something problem free, fun and powerful in such a low price range.Comment

I had an FC and loved it. This seems like it's in pretty decent shape and it's the later model (s5) which has a little more power. Rotories do carry a stigma though.Originally posted by StereoInstaller1Do you feel like something is trying to penetrate your butthole?Comment

After doing appropriate pre-purchase research and doing work on someone's RX7, I was pretty put off from owning a wankel powered anything other than a weekend toy. The awful fuel economy, the unpleasant sound, the expense of finding good housings when rebuilding (all of the cheap RX7s seem to have trashed housings).Comment
