I'm surprised it took this to make so many people jump ship. The compression they run and their site layout was enough to drive me off years ago.

I'll be honest, I've avoided the web page for a while now. Never had a problem when using the app so I didn't bother to switch.

Many thanks, although that includes the car Dad had his accident in so I'm not super keen on using it :| That is a nice picture though

When I do it, I'll replace it. Not important enough to me to delete it.

Started uploading to Flickr. Let's see how this works.

Edit: God damn it. I'm remembering the thing I liked about PB, it was the share link that was automatically created for you, even with IMG tags for forums. It's almost as if they were making it easy for you to share your pictures on 3rd party sites

Edit: how do I get a shareable URL from the Flickr app??

Thanks. Unless I'm missing something obvious, this option doesn't seem to exist on either A) their app, or B) the mobile version of their site (which I can't seem to select the desktop version in iOS).

                          What a bloody chore.
So you can upload photos from the Flickr app but you have to go to the desktop site to get a bbcode or shareable URL.

I wasn't using some image hosting web site that went tits up a few years ago. I lost hundreds of pics because i also wasn't willing to pay ransom for them.

I do feel you guy's pain who are effected by this. I have been using image shack ever since. I have to pay about 30 bucks? A year or so. I've been happy with it as a whole however.

I'm curious, what specifically are you paying for? I was paying ~$30 a year to Photobucket for their "pro" tier which allowed for much more bandwidth. A few years back I began posting on a forum that saw many times the traffic, and all my PB hosted images died.

I should have known then and there to switch, but paying the $30 was easier than rehosting. At least then they gave you a threshold, if you didn't exceed your allotted bandwidth you could use it for free forever.

interesting point. maybe i'm just paying not to get ass pounded with sandpaper wrapped around the shaft. the web site is easy to use and its easy to select links to post in forum threads. easy to download from my android phone, computer or iPad. seems like a small price to pay but then no one has ever mistaken me for a computer savvy guy either.
