That said in general your right, that CPO can be a better buy, but there are lots of other factors, and depends on the model your shopping for. In fact I can we could likely sell the wifes 4runner for more than we have in it tomorrow.
Toyota and Honda suv's are few and far between exceptions to the rule. Brandon is generally accurate in his statement. Our X1 (2012) is probably worth half what we paid for it only 8 months ago. I'll probably never buy another newer BMW. Fuck them!

Hmmm....do you know where it's located? That isn't a Texas plate hanging on the back of it? Too bad it's yellow, but if it could be bought cheap enough......

But back on topic of the hurricane. Is it still raining in Houston and do they have any idea when the water levels will start to go down?

As some one who works for one of the larger auto insurance companies, we're going to do our damnedest to make sure a lot of this stuff doesn't end up back on the street. Still too early to tell which direction things are going to go yet as many claims likely have yet to be even filed. Unfortunately, even if we dot our I's and cross our T's, with a completely legal title transfer, once the car is sold (even for parts) there are still unscrupulous individuals out there who will try to wash the salvage or junk title to put it back on the market. I can't for the life of me figure out why some states still allow folks to get away with this stuff.

I do know that after Katrina, we shredded (yes, SHREDDED) over 5,000 cars alone to ensure they could never be put back on the road again.

So sad for those who those who lost everything in the flood. I couldn't imagine losing my house and my cars that way. If I wasn't starting another construction job next week I'd head down there to help out.

I saw on shark tank a guy selling a car condom

Im not going to goole it at work, so people think im looking at porn.

But you can almost drive a truck into it, and its completley watertight, and was about 200$. You drive into it, get out, and zip your car inside. Resistant to heat from exhaust, and legit water tight

I know its to late know, but this sort of thing will happen again

The rain stopped tues afternoon. All the news shows is the flooded areas. We live on the northeast side of town. My wife decided she wanted to try to go to work yesterday on the south west side of town. I drove her in my diesel truck because I didn't know what we might run into.

Oddly, I have to say that we made the entire drive without encountering any water. At all. Other than very little traffic, It was about 90% like nothing had ever happened. It was seriously weird. Almost eerie.

$300. And the highest water level they mention on their site is 36" so it might not be enough if you get harvey-level flooding. Maybe it can protect from higher water levels than that, I don't know, but I think the limitation is the height of the zipper.

My plan in the event of a big rain producing hurricane coming my way was just to put my water-damageable stuff in bags in the attic and the car on jackstands in the garage. On jackstands the bottoms of my doors are at least 24" off the ground. There's not much you can do in the face of flooding on that scale though, where the water is deep enough in some areas for cars to be completely submerged.

Yeah i worked all over Houston on Friday legit every area looked like this it's sad. Everyone had their cars open drying out too. One neighbor hood I went to wouldn't let us in because two looters had been shot the night before and it was now residents only. I feel for Beaumont and Port Arthur as well it's bad down there.
