All I can think of is the people who made it, I CANT imagine going through life like that, a total bible and family freak. There was some deal on TV about big families or something and there was this one family that was so religious and "proper" it made me want to puke. Fake happiness is the most disgusting thing ever.
Then: Raging with my friends, meeting chicks, drinking, getting high.
Now: Jesus, Wife, Family, Friends, Work, school, BMWs.
The 'Then' was cool for about five years and then my kick ass coke habit ruined my life. No job, no friends, no place to live, two OD's, DUI w/possession... it sucked really bad. Way too much drama, regret, sadness and pain. I prolly should have had a stroke or a heart attack due to how much dope I was doing. At my most recent physical, my MD told me that I have 'the heart of a marathon runner'. Miracles never cease.
Four years of AA/NA, In-patient rehab, out-patient rehab, cold turkey, white knuckling, nothing worked until I remembered some scripture verses. My parents and a whole bunch of other people were praying for me, and the Lord showed mercy upon this messed up individual and set me on a path to recovery. Within a year of being Born Again, I finished school and was dating my soon to be wife. Within two years of that, I had a really good job, was married to the best woman the Lord has created, bought a condo, and was clean and sober. And happy... prolly the only real happiness I had ever felt.
You ever wonder why people that have everything (pro athletes, entertainers, business tycoons, etc) are so messed up? It's because they have realized that money and fame cannot bring happiness. Money can provide temp fixes in the form of sex, drugs and alcohol, but the rich and famous are still killing themselves over the void in their lives. Only Jesus Christ can fill the void. He did it for me, He can do it for anyone who truly seeks Him.I Timothy 2:1-2

A little over a year ago I met my fiancee and she introduced me to God and I have never been happier. Contrary to what equate975 said I think it is the first time I have felt true happiness, as opposed to 'fake' happiness in money, possessions, pride, and other worldly things.Last edited by schmidty; 04-27-2007, 07:24 AM.

Thanks for driving the point home. It's funny, you can live your life doing whatever you want, at the end of which you can "truly find god" and go to heaven. Must be nice to have a crutch so you can fuck up throughout your life, but know, in the end, it will all be OK.
I spent a long time going to church, at the end of which I told everyone to piss off. It's fucking highway robbery. There's more money thrown towards the church system then you can shake a dick at. I couldn't believe it, because there's nothing I can see or feel. And yes, I do need that to believe it. I grew out of it just like santa clause and the easter bunny. My entire family is still religious, but the way they live their life is NO indication. I consider myself to have MUCH higher standards and morals. BUT, since they go to church, they will go to heaven and I'll go to hell.
And for the record, I do not have any idea how the earth was created (nor do any of you). I don't know if it was by a supreme being, some natural force, or whatever. Nor do I care - we don't know and will not know during my lifetime, so why waste my time guessing? You can not say you know it's this way or know it's that way - you have a belief, that's it. There are no facts. So quit dragging others down and making stupid comments based on your beliefs. And I'm not a hypocrite, my above remarks are observations.

One question for the "believers": Say at the end of life, you are wrong. There's nothing. What would you say (obviously you couldn't talk, but you know what I mean)? Would you admit you spent your entire life "serving" someone who never existed? I know you don't believe this will happen, but what if it does? Just humor me.
Please take this question seriously, I really want to know the answer, no harm is intended with the question, I'm just curious.
I'll tell you, if I go to hell, I will not be pissed, because I don't want to live my life for someone else anyway. If I have to live that way just kill me now.

Furthermore, not to turn the question back on you but, if we that are in Faith believe and are therefore saved, wouldn't one who does not believe and faces eternity in hell want to ask himself the opposite of your question?
Once you pass on and find out that the "hell" you so lightly speak of is not only very real but more miserable than any human can fathom, what would YOU say then? According to the question you present, we face nothing, you face eternity in hell.
What would I say you ask, I'd say "nothing" is better than what you are faced with. I know that isn't very humorous but then again, I seriously know where I stand, what I believe and where I am going.Last edited by Maluco; 04-27-2007, 08:30 AM.

^ not to mention the question is very one sided. What you believe is true means that once you are dead, you're dead and that's it. There's nothing after that so who are you to admin to you were right or wrong? It doesn't make sense for you to believe there is no heaven or hell and no afterlife and then ask that question.
And as Maluco pointed out no human can possibly fathom how horrible hell is, just like we cant imagine how truly wonderful heaven will be. You say you don't want to live your life for someone else but if you go to hell you will be doing just that for the rest of eternity.

Are you indeed just out for "humor" or would you like to learn and truly address your doubts?

What are you talking about? Read my last paragraph. That sums up my entire response to you.
I'm not addressing any doubt concerning the Christian religion, I have non. The church system is a crock and I have no doubt of this in my mind. My doubt lies in how the earth was created.
It's funny, you can never answer an atheists question without referring to another part of the religion. Your right, it's one whole thing. It's either all or nothing. And there's no fact's - it's all belief. Nothing grounds the belief, though.
If I said I believe in Santa Clause, and had a book that told his story, I would be laughed at, by everyone - including Christians. The very foundation of your belief is identical, however.

Allow me to ask another question. Since we know nothing about the creation of the earth, as I stated, and only have beliefs, what if the world was created by a God who picks and chooses who goes to places similar to your "heaven and hell". But it just so happens he picks people who are religious to go to hell. Maybe he's a mean God and that's the way he does things. So I go to this great party, "heaven", and you get sent to "Hell". Now, you spent your life serving someone who doesn't exist, and get sent to this "worse place than any human can fathom". Then what?
