Decided to step up in calibre for some extended range, into a .308 semi-auto. It's very similar to an ar10, but uses an in-house upper and lower receiver from a builder called Alberta Tactical. Being that it is not compatible with AR receivers, it was classified non-restricted so it was the only choice as an ar10 wasn't on the table. The cost however is high, slightly less than $3k usd.
18.6" 1:10 match barrel, timney trigger, direct impingement gun. Haven't gotten the chance to do anything more than sight it in, but hopefully it turns out to be a very accurate platform. Yes I like the a2 stock, no it is not going anywhere. Changing it out for something less sturdy is not an option, nor is an unnecessary adjustable brick.
