she was good, a bit akward at times, stepped over her words. i take it she didnt do many prompter speeches serving in AK. she was clever in trying to link energy supply concerns in the central asian republics, venezuela, and iran to a push for more domestic energy production. except the math doesn't really add up.
i saw john mccain speak in 1999. he came to my high school and spoke about his vietnam experience mainly. he earned my respect that day, but seriously, how many times do they have to pander with the "mccain" story? need some new material?
Various media reports are stating that her telemprompter went out numerous times during her speech and she had to "wing it" and go by memory.
If true, that makes it even more impressive.
We've seen what happens to another candidate when they're teleprompter fails:
Did she talk about how her daughter is a whore and has a retarded kid??
Classy. Picking on teenage girls and infants.
Typical punk Democrat.
BTW, a good friend of mine has a young son with Downs. He's a retired Army Ranger. Set a record at the time for most jumps. Was severely burned when a plane crashed into their barracks about 15 years ago and he saved the lives of several of his fellow Army Rangers. He could have retired then with full benefits but didn't. He served our country for another 15 years after that for a total of 20
He's also about 6'4", and a solid 240 lbs. Before joining the Army, he was recruited by several big name colleges to play football. I would like to see you call his son a retard.
After you did, it would be you that would be the retard and you would be drooling and eating thru a straw for the rest of your life.
I thought is was a good speech - some nice jabs at her opponent, but that was to be expected since the Dems had their party in Denver last week. The McCain war hero tale will probably fade soon....its been a tool to garner support up to this point. Now that the presidential candidates have selected their running mate and the convention(s) are all but over, the tone will change and some issues will become the focal point. I am really looking forward to the Biden/Palin debate.....should be good stuff. The debates and discussions of issues aside, I will bet you that smear crews are already working overtime trying to find any kind of dirt to use against their opponent. Basically, an all out mud-slinging fest with the hopes that something will stick.
And don't forget the infamous "October Surprise." Someone will have some kind of dirt on another and will be waiting to release it to the media not long before election day. It happens almost like clockwork.
Jon
P.S. Gulianni's speech was a real "red meat" comparison of each candidate too.
