Its funny to me that most of the people that post negative in this thread are from California, the same state that is in dyer straits looking for the federal government to bail their state out of debt!

How can one deny that the common person in this country saw GM going bankrupt in the first place? What was the point in all the billions of $$ to prop them up when the inevitable was going to happen?

The current government has quadrupled the national budget in just 3 months and has crapped on the market with higher taxes for the people that actually make jobs. They have driven the national debt to 11+ trillion and with the fed killing the price of the dollar, our AAA credit rating might be reduced, causing the interest on all those Trillions of dollars to go up. Expanding the national debt.

Now he wants to force health care! With what Money?

And now talk of a VAT tax from 10 to 25%!

I would be all for a VAT if we do away with the IRS and income taxes. Sadly that will never happen, and do you really think the people of this country will put up with a VAT???/ There will be a revolt and rioting in the streets, BHO's day of recokening is coming, sadly I fear it will come too late to do much good

not on the extended benefits for UE and should be working long before I get to that point, so no I am not on stimulus money and my industry is not on the ticket for stimulus moneyz either (oil and gas).

VAT is Value Added Tax.

Its a way to increase tax revenue with out messing with the federal tax. Most European countries already have this and is anywhere from 15 to 25%.

So that means anything you buy will be increased 10 to 25%.

Got to pay for all those social programs, bailouts, and government waist.

the EU countries call it Value Added Tax hence the VAT acronym.

Just what we need 10-25% federal sales tax on top of the 33% federal Income tax, 3-9% state income tax depending on state.
4-8.9% state sales tax depending on state, 2-5% city income and sales tax depending on city, Property Taxes, and all the other use and other taxes built into nearly everything we buy, that we pay already

Fuel is taxed at 18.5 cents per gallon and Diesel is 24 cents per gallon on the federal level and states and localities vary on top of that then you pay sales tax on the federal and state fuel per gallon tax moneys, you are paying tax on paying a tax.

I need to save all the recipes of everything I buy, for a year and add up all the hidden taxes that I pay in a year and add that to my state and Fed returns. I bet it adds up to well past the 50% and close to 65% of my annual income.

I voted for Obama because I thought he was the better of the two candidates. Issue for issue, I liked his stand and reasoned through arguments. McCain didn't impress me, so I didn't vote for him.

Now, Obama's messed things up rather badly, and has backtracked from most of his campaign promises that meant anything, and screwed up the others. I don't know if McCain could have done better, but....wow Obama's fucked things up. I don't honestly think I can vote for him for reelection unless all his very unconstitutional meddlings actually fix the situation, which I doubt.

If the Republican ticket can somehow move back to the financial conservatism and away from the outright bigotry, I would vote for them. Until they do....I may not vote at all if the Democrats are going to be like Obama. Boo Hiss.
