You're not a hypocrite because you dont smoke, but because you have some delusion that anything legal is at least "okay, because its legal", and if its NOT legal, its some big bad monster. Prohibition does NOT work. It infact reaffirms the notion that pot may lead to other drugs. NO KIDDING!? Dealer has weed and whatever else, right? People who smoke weed have to at least have some sort of out of the box thinking experimentation going on in their head, and it does not mean they're stupid. There are several BIG names out there that smoke weed. It just means theyre not following the same path as you. Trying to tell me weed should stay illegal classed with the worst drugs ever (that really ARE BAD) is like trying to say cats should be illegal because some people are allergic to them, or bikes because they only have two wheels and people could fall off. Seriously? What the heck are you thinking. So you are saying pot shouldn't be legal because...
and again because...Because like most people in the country they don't have self control. I can apply this to pot (any drug for that matter), alcohol and even food. People in this country use everything in excess. Why does someone need to continually need to get high or drunk is beyond me. If you feel better hurting your body that's your choice. I have seen too many people that went from drinking excessively to drugs and starting out with pot to more serious drugs. I cant even imagine dealing with people on a daily basis who are high....
What I find most amusing is all the rationalizations in this thread on why pot should be legal. It will only give people more of a chance to go in a downward spiral.
I'm sure you are aware of the facts but I will just reiterate...

You argue that you see too many of your friends that start with pot and move onto harder, more destructive drugs? That's not pots fault. That's the persons fault. I'd hazard that I could match, person for person, a hard working, honest, non-druggie pot smoker for everyone of your loser ass friends.

Let's bring up booze again. Booze have wrecked more lives and killed more people than pot has. Alcohol is one of the only substances on this earth that can kill you from withdrawls. Totally legal. It's not the cars fault when someone drives drunk into a minivan full of kids and tragically kills everyone. It's not even the alcohol.
