They most certainly are not. Again, you need to open a book. The theory of evolution deals with the changes to one generation to it's successive generations. The word evolution can be applied elsewhere, but the theory of evolution applies only to life on earth. It exists entirely independent of the big bang.
Um...yes? Of course we're more knowledgeable than previous generations. In the last 100 years we've acquired more information about our universe than we had in our entire existence up until that point. The spread of information has allowed more people to come to rational educated conclusions on matters which previously were force fed and incontestable.
