the last few years have been a really nice change from that waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles, gwb.
What nice changes have you been enjoying over the last few years? If you'd care to name a couple that would be awesome.

      For me personally,
      1. Repealed DODT. A good friend of mine is reenlisting in the AirForce and hopefully can get back some of the retirement benefits that he's worked his whole life to receive. He is much happier, which makes me much happier.
      2. $2500 tax credit for an investment I made into a start up venture company. Yay for me. The investment is going very well and I got the tax credit, which reduced my personal risk. Without it, I may have not invested.
      3. My mother in-law will be able to get health care in 2014. If it were sooner, she could have quit her job sooner and lived with us, but at least it's coming (She's at that age where she doesn't quite qualify for Medicare/ Medicaid, but can't really afford health insurance).
      4. Also, although it doesn't effect me personally right now, it's nice to see that science is not being suppressed like it was with Bush. He went out of his way to silence any scientist or agency that opposed his agenda.
      5. The bank bailouts and bonuses, as much as I hate them in principle had a very direct impact on our business and my personal income back in 09'. Without them, we would have ben up shit creek. Not sure if the business would've survived.

Of course, what I say is good for me you may say is bad for the country, but I don't think I'm the only one whose noticed some improvement.

My list of improvements is a bit more anecdotal since I can't really point to direct policies, but here goes:

        Last year of Bush presidency:

        1. Worked telephone based tech support for a fitness equipment manufacturer for $11 an hour.

        2. Drove a 2003 Honda Civic

        3. Was single

As of 2011 under Obama presidency:

        1. Working as a building automation programmer for $25/hr

        2. Have a 1989 325ix and a 2003 X5.

        3. Am engaged.

Is it all because of B-rock? No, probably not - but I am really not itching to re-visit 2008 either.

          1. LOL how did DODT effect your "partner". Did he openly flaunt his gayness in the army or get caught plunging one of the drill instructors?

          2. Awesome, to bad you didn't name anything that had to do with this tax credit. What exactly did obama do to enable you to get this anonymous tax credit?

          3. This is luls worthy.

          4. I can't comment on this.

          5. This is speculation. This most likely would have occurred under any of these presidents....

This might be the dumbest post I've seen in here. So because you got a new job that justifies a vote for obama? (I'm assuming based on your post that you will in fact vote for him since he's upgraded your life like little wayne. )

          I love it.

I agree with HarryPotter, I vote this as the dumbest post in PnR forum.

              1. My gay friend's jealous ex-lover had told his supervisor. Supervisor
confronted him and said if he didn't confess he would make his life hell. He confessed and got kicked out. Not quite the proper protocol for DODT. He tried to sue but no lawyer would take the case. Ended up getting a civilian job working for the Air Force doing the exact same thing. DODT was such a bullshit policy and everyone knew it. Glad that was fixed.
              2. I dunno which bill was passed to give me the tax credit. I just knew it was passed in 09'.
              5. I work in Charlotte, home of BoA and Wachovia. My work load is highly dependent on banker's bonusus. We get more work if they get bonuses. Everyone gets excited around Feb. to March because it's the big indicator of how busy we will be for the year. We track that shit. It made an impact. Besides, to say any president would've done it flies in the face of the Tea Party's main complaints about Obama.

Who said I was tea party? I'm not going to argue points 1 and 2 as they are legitimate claims.

Number FIVE however, any modern president of this country would have bailed those banks out.

                Besides my buddy Ron Paul.

bush got us into iraq AND afghanistan.

obama got us out of iraq and afghanistan is in the works. how could you forget those? they only cost us TRILLIONS of dollars. fucking iraq. the hell was the point of that? we invaded them because of 9/11, which quickly got changed to, "they have WMDs." which quickly changed to, "they dont have WMDs, but saddam is bad to his citizens!" so uh.. how is that our problem? and who got the massive contracts for rebuilding iraq? (that we got charged to destroy.) haliburton!

iraq alone is enough to say obama is doing a far better job than gwb.

You seem to be basing this off the assumption that I am a Bush supporter. Which is a complete fallacy on your behalf. I despise Bush. However that doesn't negate the fact that Obama has engaged in I believe four new wars without congresses approval and the peoples backing.

This new age bullshit about invading and warring without the approval of congress is downright frightening. How Obama loathes for the power to slip around congress on all of his orders is also quite scary in of itself.

There's two things that are annoying about talking politics with friends or acquaintances, if you don't like Obama you MUST love Bush, or you are a racist. It's that simple.

I also have come to realize that a major hurdle in getting people to wake up is the fact that many, many people just cannot wrap their heads around the fact that a president of the United States of America is out to harm anyone or anything. They just cannot even speak it. "That is crazy talk! The president trying to hurt the economy or stir up trouble? That's ridiculous!" It's a losing game.

I personally believe we will see four more years of Obama. I don't really care at this point. I am stocking up on weapons, lots of ammunition and food. I will hopefully be prepared when and if shit hits the fan. Call me nutty but being prepared for the worst is better than not being prepared at all.

I'll add that for the most part, the left lacks any form of objectivity when it comes to Obama.

please dont be a retard. i have plenty bad to say about obama. i think he's in bed with a lot of big business. however, it's just the degree of cronyism that i think is far far far far reduced from his predecessor. it's still cronyism at the end of the day though.

as for wars, obama has not gotten us into anything like iraq. and that is a step in the right direction as far as im concerned.
