Do you currently choose to opt out of health insurance? Personally, I am a very healthy individual who is on no prescription meds and have never been admitted to a hospital. I went to the clinic once this past summer for an ear infection. But I would never forgo health insurance due to the financial harm that can be caused if something serious did happen. That is why I elected to go on a high deductible plan with a health savings account through my employer.

Now, on the other hand, the uninsured person will still go and get treatment if something happens - but then since they can't pay, we all suffer higher premiums. So you see, your personal freedom to "not have insurance" directly infringes on my right to not be ripped off on my premiums.

If they could make it where you have to pay up front for treatment either via presenting valid insurance or cash.....then I'd be fine with not mandating it.

In a nutshell, if someone wants to chance death and I am in no way affected - PARTY ON!
"I think we consider too much the good luck of the early bird and not enough the bad luck of the early worm."

I think Gingrich's personal/moral flaws will be highlighted if he surfaces as a real contender after a few state primaries. The guy filed for divorce from his wife while she was admitted to the hospital with cancer. Congrats... you just lost the vote of every woman on the fence.

Didn't seem to affect Bill Clinton's popularity.

Not a fan of Newt. Just another Rino. And comes cross as a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles like Mitt. Although makes more sense than Mitt.

Clinton was already in office and was popular.

In the no-holds-barred world of the primaries, I think it was be put in the spotlight in some ads.

Agreed. However, Obama prevailed inspite of his, uh, failings.

I had first heard of this yesterday and couldnt find any substantiated claims. Its only two stories from burnt staffers that are different from the ex wife even. No record of legal proceedings or the like.

I thought it was pretty widely known that Gingrich had an affair and divorced his dying wife all while investigating Clinton during the Lewinsky scandal. He's a scumbag.

You accusing him of being a democrat?

I haven't been keeping tabs with presidential candidate news as of late....in fact, I couldn't name all the candidates running if you asked me. I do know this: Cain isn't going to take it...I just don't think he can pull it off. Gingrich has an experience edge from previous years in DC, but with that come political baggage. Should his approval ratings go up in the various poles, the media will break out their smear tactic play book. That do that to any candidate - regardless of party - who doesn't "fit" the criteria they hold.

Mark my words, if Ron Paul gets the GOP nom, he will win the election. He is the only candidate that can get dems, repubs and independents to vote for him.
