The fundamental core of moral beliefs are shared in majority of religious or non-religious groups. Such that, civil law is easily agreed upon in mature and understanding societies, like in Western Europe. They respect differences better than the US and also leave others be with their personal decisions and don't interfere, like the US originally set out to do. For a lot of the things people take upon themselves to butt into the lives of others here, you'd be ignored or considered very rude in the UK or elsewhere.
At some point, the US fell behind the other Western nations as far as being fair to all and understanding freedom. Up until 1967, the US shared with South Africa's Apartheid and Nazi laws that prohibited interracial relationships, which was based on religious thought that separate races ought to be separate. Similarly, most modern Western cultures have legalized gay marriage, whereas the US - the 'land of the free' and has a established principle of 'separation church and state' bans in most of the country gay marriages. Certainly hypocritical of US.
I usually don't argue with religious people, but I have reached my boiling point. I cannot believe that in order to be a republican candidate, you must be a theocrat.
These fools: Mitt, Rick, Newt, should not have the support they are having.. What is crazy, it seems, is that they are almost exaggerating their religious beliefs in order to get elected. Ron Paul is the only one of them all that said that his religious belief would not affect his decisions if he were to be elected. This comes from a Dr, who before, denied evolution and said creationism was real.

Science has been called the enemy for many, many years. How dare it question The Word Of God! How many people who simply dared to question have suffered horribly at the hands of the pious through the centuries?

He created imperfect beings yet punishes us for being imperfect? Again, illogical proposition is illogical.

Yeah, all those "miracles" you read about or were preached about, are just made up, embellished, exaggerated stories pass down from story tellers to story tellers and ended up in a book, you call the bible, that is the basis of your religion.
Sorry, not trying to be rude or anything. I know it made me really sad the day I found out that Santa Claus wasn't real.
But yeah, your religion, muslim religion, judaism, etc... They are all just made up fairy tales..

Originally posted by FunfGan View PostMy apologies, missed that. As far as an answer? I probably can't give a very good one, as I know of nobody who believes in prayer alone, and therefor have never talked with anybody who believes that. I have certainly heard of those who believe that, but to me it makes no sense. The medicine is there, whether you believe it is because of God or for some other reason, the medicine is there.
But the question was 'How would you feel if someone else's beliefs (in that medicine is playing God and one must pray to be healed from sickness) was imposed upon you and the American medical policy was determined by Christian Scientist beliefs?'
