props to vdubin for an excellent analogy.
wow dude. you either have the reading comprehension of a 2 year old or you didnt read the article. let me quote a specific section of it.
And ordinary people don’t particularly want to hear this, either. It’s so easy for someone to go out and eat 6,000 calories a day. There’s no magic bullet on this. You simply have to cut calories and be vigilant for the rest of your life.AWD > RWDComment

it is not easy to go out and eat 6000 calories a day. that's bullshit.
6000 calories is like eating a large plate a fettucine alfredo, 3 or 4 glasses of wine, bacon and eggs for b'fast and a hamburger for lunch. Daily. and somehow personal responsibility doesn't count? I'd argue anyone, regardless of IQ, knows eating like this is bad.nd if they don't then we have natural selection“There is nothing government can give you that it hasn’t taken from you in the first place”

While I do agree with you, I assure you there are healthy things you can eat at fast food restaurants. You just have to try a little harder. I'm in college right now, the food they provide at our cafeteria is pretty unhealthy but, there are a few bright spots. Even taco bell has decently healthy food if you order off the fresca menu.
Also, it doesn't take that long to run into the grocery store and buy bread, peanut butter, jelly and some fruit and yogurt.
Real life hasn't started for you yet. See above.. mortgage, spouse, kids, bills, job, etc.Comment

I guess if you are slurping down milkshakes, ordering large fries a few times a day it can add up but 6000 calories is an olympic meal.Comment

it was only the cumulative sentence at the end of the article. i can understand how it would be easy to miss.
Only if you feel people can't control what they put into their own mouths. Stop with the victim routine already. People are victims of fat primarily because they choose to order the big mac, fries, milkshake and three fucking Hersey's pies all in one sitting instead of the salad and water. Thanks to guys like you they can blame their obese arses on the rest of our society.Last edited by joshh; 05-22-2012, 10:26 AM.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Are they "taxing the fuck" out of soda here? I don't drink soda very often and still would not support a huge tax.
Taxing in this way is a sign of failure to educate. Having to pass laws directing what your people should and should not eat is the pinnacle of failure of a government.
Plus you're then penalizing all of the people who are not abusing the product in question.
The nanny state is here to rescue everyone from themselves.
Or you just let those who choose to abuse their bodies die.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Big Mac=540 calories. ^You might be thinking sodium?
Large fries=500
Large shake=1160
Total=2200
You'd have to eat that five times in one day to get to 10k calories.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

I'm seeing 590, 540, and 1160, but whatever. you could easily eat at mcdonalds for every meal, and you can bet people that weigh 500+lbs eat more than one portion at a sitting. they have to.
it's not difficult *at all* to overconsume. we already know people are irresponsible. so what do you fix? the crappy food or the stupid people? how are you going to force people to be responsible? shoot everyone who you don't like? oh, wait.. :pComment

That meal alone is already over consuming for the average individual.
You can't force people to be responsible. You let them die...
Unless of course they take some responsibility to do something about it. Then as a friend or family member you help them. It's not governments roll to help fatties become less fat.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Five years ago, when I decided to calculate my intake, I was averaging 7-9,000/day six days a week while working 13h/day and thought I didn't have enough time to prepare food for myself.

32oz Soda 267cal
Bag of Chips 390cal
Monster Java's x2 400cal

Lunch convenience store run 2661cal
Right there, that is over 5,500 calories without counting dinnertime, not counting if I made a late afternoon Jack-In-The-Box run, also not counting the 2 packs of cigarettes a day I was smoking, nor the high stress environment. Fuck, I was killing myself, I don't know how I thought I wasn't gonna die doing that.
It's a whole lot easier to be a fat unhealthy slob than it is to do things the right way if you've grown up in/or matured in a shitty food society.
It's a lot of work to eat healthy, it's more expensive to buy high nutrient foods, they go bad faster, it's hard to adapt to them after high processed flour/high sugar content diets, but it will change your life, and give you the ability to eat to live as opposed to living to eat.Comment
