Yes, but at the end of the year, those people get tax deductions that reduce the amount of taxes paid to 0.

That's actually true. Most of that group still pay payroll tax, another large group are retired seniors, still more make $20k or less, and some are soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan who are exempt from federal income tax. So even though the number is accurate his assessment is still quite insulting.

Because the entire internet does not know about her. And if you go around asking people you will find that way less people know about her than people like us that spend a lot of time on the internet. It's all because the media doesn't cover third parties.

So what if they aren't paying INCOME taxes? You're jumping to the conclusion that they are on government assistance AND that they have not paid into it.

I hope you're having fun slaying that strawman.

I tried to stay out of this, but when someone says something THIS STUPID, I have to interject.

Have you ever heard of this new-fangled thing called a "sales tax"? What about payroll tax? Social Security tax? Medicare tax?

Do you live in a state within the USA? Does that state have taxes? What about your county, or city? Do they have taxes? Bond measures?

Every single person in this country pays taxes. In fact, the poor often pay a far larger share of their income in taxes than the wealthy, due to the highly regressive nature of sales taxes and payroll taxes. Combine that with the fact that capital gains tax rates are much lower than standard income tax rates, and suddenly Warren Buffet's secretary pays a higher tax rate than he does.

Do you have any sources to back up this claim?

Exactly what do I "not quite get"? Or is this just another empty post to make your post count look like you actually contribute to this forum?

when you say local taxes, you meaning state and county taxes?

And if so, what is the taxes in your local area? Thats why I live in Florida. No state income tax, no food or medicine tax, 7 percent sales tax etc... Id only visit Washington.

no state income tax but we have a very high sales tax, property taxes, all kinds of city fees on every service you can imagine, bag taxes, everything is taxed. first the state, then the county, then the city (and the port agency). it's one of the most regressive systems in the country, but we're one of the liberal wackjob states. go figure.

Sections of Miami have insane property taxes. My condo out west of the beach was not that bad. Sold that and now rent on the beach much closer to work. I have no idea what they are right around here.

If its that regressive, why not move out of the state. Somewhere where you can save more of your earnings?
