The difference between LAs traffic and Seattles traffic is that there are other freeways you can take in LA if one is shit, while in Seattle you have no choice. you're fucked. This is from a guy who currently lives in SoCal and spent the last 7 years in Seattle. I was also just in Seattle last week and thought to myself, this traffic sucks! The drivers are crazy here, but they also dont go 15mph UNDER the speed limitSimon

LOL. Out of touch propaganda spewing union rep is out of touch and spewing propaganda. Who the fuck is the business supposed to pass costs to? Send the bill to the Minnesota legislature? The service workers union?āWe believe that the industry is overreacting,ā Wade Luneburg of the MN State Council of UNITE HERE Unions told the Star Tribune this week. āPutting [minimum wage] fees on tickets and passing the cost on to consumers directly is strange at best, and creates an āus against themā mentality while ordering dinner.āComment

If your bill going up a whopping 35 cents is no big deal, why has it created such an uproar?Which makes you wonder--would they really care at all if he hadn't taken the extra effort to point it out?
You wouldn't do the same if his coffee supplier increased prices, or his dairy supplier did so as well. Or if the rent/lease increased. Or any other reason.
Not to mention that the potential for negative press or for this to be percieved in a negative light are so much higher than the benefit of educating customers why their bill went up a whopping 35 cents.Comment

Whaaa?
A business owner hires a floor sweeper because he needs the floors swept.
He does NOT hire a floor sweeper to teach discipline to some high school punk he's never met.
When I was a teenager, I ran a weed whacker for a local junkyard. He didn't hire me because he felt sorry for me... he paid me to keep the weeds down.Comment

His point being...minimum wage isn't intended to be "lived on" and is only a starting point for people that have other forms of financial support. (ie. high school/college students).Whaaa?

You'd be surprised how many people don't know how to show up on time (early) for work, appointments, circle jerks;D, etc... Usually these things are learned (discipline) as a punk kid running a weed whacker on time, or they lose that income.Whaaa?

However intended oh well. It's still idealism vs. reality. Race and life choices aside, people work 1 to 2 mcDonalds jobs to feed themselves and their families. I live by the border and see it all the time. The policies that create that problem aren't part of this issue btw.
