Darwin award? runner up to the family of the girl.

Why would you give an uzi to a 9 year old girl again? I'm trying to understand.. kids these ages are aware of death, but they still don't understand consequences until they are well out of their teenage years.

I wouldn't let my 9 year old handle an Uzi. A few rounds from a small caliber handgun perhaps but not an Uzi. Recreation suitable for a 9 year old to me is more like pellet, paintball, lasertag but I realize not everyone will have the same sentiments. Yeah, people kill people but it's a lot easier with a fully automatic Uzi.

I'm having a field day on youtube with this. By the time I was 11, I've pretty much shot and gotten comfy with anything less than .308. mind you.

Im from the southwest. We are a different breed... .22 LR from ages 5-7, to shooting .223 proficiently by the time your 8-9. In High School, we were piecing together AK builds and having our dads buy em online.

        2004 E46 M3 Cabriolet...she will be missed..

Nothing wrong with learning proper firearm safety as a child, but this kid appears to have never shot a gun. Never mind an automatic in a pistol grip. There should have been a stock on it, he should have been standing behind and had his hands ready to grip her arms/hands. One round doesn't show you the new shooter's reactions.

Either way, even an adult should graduate from smaller arms before grabbing a murder weapon, the only utility an uzi has.

As one who was raised around firearms, like many other here, I never had an issue.

There is a huge difference between raising a child in an family where firearms have been around for generations, and taking your kid to a tourist attraction.

Why would you want your kid to shoot a full auto anything, anyway? She would have had just as much fun with a Ruger 10/22.

The typical BB-gun automatic riffle that shoots wildly at a paper star in a fair attraction would have been just as exciting, and not near as dangerous.

put 2 and 2 together. ppl get killed by other things beyond guns like in that case, a skateboard. all it takes are a couple of well placed love taps.

A fully auto Uzi is like an 80's lambo, if being compared to cars. While I think letting kids grab the steering wheel can be cute, it's also ridiculously stupid and dangerous, especially with something so powerful. Cars can kill the shit out of people if in the wrong hands just like guns, even if it's accidental or intentional.

FWIW, statistically you have roughly a 70-80% chance of surviving as a handgun or "assault weapon" victim. Get hit by a texting tween while crossing the road? That number drops to 60% @ 30mph, 20% @ 40mph.

Hospital reports and NHTSA reports mostly. I mean, I didn't come up with the statistics myself, but I've seen roughly the same figures in reports over the years so I used the first links that came up on google.

Believe it or not, unless you get shot in the head or don't get to a hospital within a few hours, most GSWs are not fatal. Real life isn't an 80's action flick; people don't immediately die from a shot to the arm or some dumb shit... you'd be amazed at how resilient the human body is

From pistol calibers, yes. Rifles are much more lethal.

here's a video of a doctor giving an extensive presentation on this subject, worth a watch:
