Hasn't it been sitting? Have you run the old gas out of it? Did you rape it before taking it to smog?

yea it has been sitting a year but i drove it at least once a month. i put in 10 gallons of 91 over a month ago then put 3 gallons of 91 before the test. my test was at 2 and i drove it hard all day. 2nd gear in the 35 zone keeping high rpms. drove it straight on to the machine off the street.

so apparently i have the wrong cat, which is the cat the other smog shop installed. wrong cat = automatic fail. im guessing he fudged the numbers a bit to pass it or maybe with the brand new cat it was able to pass that time.

the BAR now has star rated shops and i have to pass at one. im going to call the original shop and see if they are star rated, and if he can get the car to pass again. i had no idea he used a ford cat until yesterday.

my buddy knows a guy up north that will pass the car for 100 bucks but, not sure if he is star rated and not sure how far north.

now that the e39 is running healthy, i'm starting to realize why people give up on these things. the suspension is a veritable nightmare. also 7, count them, SEVEN, check engine codes.

OBDII will set off codes for everything. I have gotten codes for smog pump and evap (gas cap not sealing). Luckily, they were easily fixed. They do this stuff so you have to make sure your car is running in good shape otherwise you can't smog/register it. What codes did you get?
