Why's that? It was done at a shop owned by a family friend and they were having a special to get your air recharged for $87 in June. And it was done with one of those machines that removes all the old air first.

Just remember. A/C systems only lose their charge if they have a leak. How big the leak is decides how long your A/C will work for. 8)

What are some ways to prevent leaks? I think eventually I want to put A/C in my car, this summer is going to be my test to see how I do without it. I have most of the parts, but will need something for the lines because of the 24v swap

It needed to be recharged because when my uncle and I replaced the cylinder head a few months ago we disconnected the air conditioning so we could get to the front of the engine. It still blew cold air and there was still air in the system before we disconnected it.

I know of a guy in simi valley that re-charges r12 still. ;)

It's about $300 but it blows ice cold.

How do you know it blew cold if you bought it with a broken timing belt? O.o

Justt a feeling. r134 in an old r12 system is generally hit or miss.

true, but I start work at 9am so its usually not too bad that early. Then I sit in an airconditioned building for the next 8 hours ;D we'll see though, the worst is yet to come

Have your suit and shirt on a hangar. Drive to work in undershirt & get dressed in parking lot. Saves you from the sweaty pits of despair.
