I have the 1995 e36m steering rack, I got over it within 4-5 months. I do like the better turn ratio though, as opposed to stock e30.
At highway speeds any steering rack will give you the death rattle, so yes, alignment is a must.

How come you didn't like it? I'm about to replace or swap, so any input would be dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooope

So, I believe the "twitchy" feeling come from that almost non existent threshold. Especially at freeway speeds.

My old Genesis Coupe had super fast and responsive steering to the point where you'd have to be extremely cautious driving at highway speeds, because any small input made the car jerk pretty badly.
Gotcha. Well in that regard, mine also has a very small deadspot. Took me a little while to get used to as well, but again I run minimal front toe which will result in less stability at high speed.

I have a regular e36 rack. It was an imperceivable upgrade, although it did clean up the slop the old one had. If I were to do it again, I'd follow Charlie's example and go with an e46. The 36 rack just doesn't give the impression I'm driving a small (quick/nimble) car, as compared to my other small car.

Is it the same procedure as an e36 swap?

I actually had swapped an e36 rack previously and felt the same way. Thats why I went one step further to the e46 330 rack

FedEx showed up early and I had them in by 430!

I'm so happy with the setup. It's an incredible ride!

Do you drive the 134/210 to work in the morning around 6ish? I bumped into a red e30 that looks like yours a couple of times while I was driving my bronzit
