Jimmy, thats not a horrible idea, but if I may give you suggestion find a 731 head and do a proper 2.7i build. You have a really nice car. M30s are cool and all, but I think its more of an "old school" muscle that you can get a lot of from a proper M20 build. Wont get the torque monster M30, but you also wont be stuck with 15mpg

Im just looking for more NA power in stock form, might just do an m54 swap instead but definitely set on doing an engine swap. Also 731 heads are super rare and hard to find. Was also thinking about an m60 swap but that swap will take a lot more time and money to complete

Im guessing you arent concerned about keeping it CA legal? Hanford location, so you're on the base?

I think theres a member here with a 731 head , but anyways if you arent worried about staying legal and really want to do a swap, I would go with the M54. Monster torque, lightweight and can get good mpg. Its a much more modern swap compared to a M30, plus you can still keep the same transmission, though I would try and get a 6speed also because... why not

Car is registered out of state because I'm not a California resident so I'm not worried about California smog laws. The more I do research the more I lean towards the m54 swap. I might keep the transmission if I don't find a complete car with the 6speed

Ive driven Hoveringuys M54 car when I was trying to decide between the M52 and the M54 and if I wasnt worried about smog, I would go M54 all the way. M30 is cool for that old school correctness, but I would rather have a modern motor that can still be usable in a regular day to day scenario
