I'm getting so close to finishing and being able to drive my car. Feb. 21 will be 24 months since the M42 came out- I'm losing my fucking mind.

Anybody have thoughts on refurbishing wheels? My e36 either needs its wheels refurbished or replaced since the paint is faded and there's rash on almost every wheel. Worse case I can just buy them new from BMW (they're the stock OEM M3 Contour 17" wheels).

For sake of space and not having multiple wheels laying around, is there any reason not to take them to a refurbisher? It seems most of them nowadays will powdercoat them though, and depending on the temperatures used in the baking process, there's conflicting info whether the alloy wheels get weakened. Otherwise I'm just going to buy them new and know for a fact they're OEM factory quality, then deal with getting rid of the old set, but probably spend 2x to 3x in the process...ouch!

It’s probably worth calling around and talking to some wheel refinishing places to get their input. My dad had good luck straightening and refinishing his wheels at rite way in Walnut Creek.

Rite Way does good work, they did a set of Alpina 16's for a friend and they looked fantastic once done. Unfortunately I've moved to Southern California, so I'll have to find a shop down here then unless I want to wait until the next time I'm up north again, but good to know you've had good results with refurb'd wheels.

Anyone know a good shop with a Dyno? I'm trying to get baseline HP & torque curves, AFR, etc. for tuning purposes, for a reasonable price. Not trying to do live tuning atm. I'm in West SJ.
              Edit:
I think I found a decent shop : All Auto and Truck Specialists

Didn't realize how hard it was to find a dyno. Thought I could find a BMW specialist and everything but, guess not.

Anyone in the market for an s50? I might have a line on a different motor and am looking to sell the spare one I bought. Good engine, has about 140k on it, pulled from a running car.

^looks so good, sounds so busy.

Swap time (m52b28 into '86 325) is coming very soon. Only thing I'm really nervous about is wiring. Anyone got any tips or tricks? Or would anyone be down to help me out when the time comes? Will probably start the swap in about a month. Debating just getting a harness made for the swap but would rather save some money there and do it myself.

Before I began the wiring for my swap I was very nervous about it. It’s really quite a bit easier to make an adapter than you’re making it out to be in your head. Spend some time going through the ETMs and reading through posts. Create a spreadsheet with a mapping. You’ll get it!
