I am srsly considering joining the SCCA, but i wanna also know if membership in the san diego region would work in the golden gate region.

There's some stuff in the summer, yeah. I'm not sure about the membership, to be honest. But if you only want to attend one event you can just pay $15 for a weekend membership.

My first car was an e46. Granted it was the 323i, I still loved it to death until I was run off the road :( I drive by the spot I hit median wall and see the paint transfer quite often. Oh the times I had in that car.

E30s and e46s are two very different machines
Do you prefer raw grungy driving experience or comfort and poise?

If you know which one you like best, then that's a good indicator of which car you'll enjoy more

trivia point: the m42 vert is the only e30 that came tail-heavy from the factory; very slightly so (like 49.6/50.4).

not surprising when you think about it- light engine in the front, bunch of reinforcement and a softtop aft of the driver's position.

So can I remove my rear trunk weight for a perfect 50/50?

That's a good thing to know!

                off topic question:

are there any engine mount plates that could raise the engine maybe an inch or two higher? (More concerned on the oilpan hitting the uncertain roads).

An inch or two is quite a lot. I'm not sure how much the driveline can handle without having to realign things. New e28 mounts (535) could raise it up a bit because 20 year old mounts could be sagging.

I saw that route, but then I thought of having my dad mock me a plate that goes underneath the mounts or the rubber part, I plan on going to getting my car lower (plus skid plates of course).

you still haven't done that? it takes 30 seconds.

i did vorshag engine/tranny mounts, but i have to be so careful about the reiger lip (which has gotten beat up anyway) that i don't think my oil pan is in much danger...

You'll be fine with stock mounts if you have a skid plate. I'm not gonna run a skid plate until I break a pan or two, so if its possible to shim the engine up an inch I'd be interested.

And dk, no I actually haven't gotten around to it yet. It just keeps slipping my mind.

I live in San Diego during the school year, and live in da bay between late june-late september.

e30's at home, i drive a volvo 240, but currently don't have it on campus w/ me, its at my cousin's.

i personally own the e30, the peugeot is 'mine', but it is/has been an ongoing project between my dad and I, i have a mercedes that i inherited from a relative that's in tennessee (currently unable to fly over and drive it back), and the volvo is the car that gets tossed around my immediate family (everyone drives it).

it's 40 pounds of weight reduction for free. better gas mileage and more tire chirpy. you could have had it done in the time it took you to edit that last post. :P

I still have it, I made a ton of young dumb decisions in the past year, but I didn't fuck it up too horribly... Well, I can fix it. It has a cage/door bars, hydro e-brake (Massive secondary wilwood calipers), so it's pretty fun atleast. It's got a salvage title, I just need to go get a brake & tail inspection and I can get new tags. It's getting an M60, the quarter panel fixed, and then repainted. I picked up a 4-door ETA as a DD for $300 on CL, so I can do what I want to the race car.

                                Hey guys,

New here, and new to BMWs but not to modded cars. Just picked up a 89 325i, and look forward to getting to know y'all as well as learning about these cars!

                                a pic of the car:

Looking to get some things sorted out, but eventually wanna drop it and put some wide wheels on it.
