I miss my E34 M5 all the time, but after taking both the M5 and my E30 on Hicks Rd, I would never go back to a E34. Not knocking them, it wasnt a car for me. They are awesome carsSimon

Yeah but he doesn't own that one (presumably)
I've ridden in an Z8 ages ago.. thing hauls and seems like a fun car. However the consensus of most critics IIRC is that it has an identity crisis and lacks the handling capability of a small roadster, but lacks the ride of a cruiser. Doubt I will be in the market for one and honestly as sacrilegious as it sounds I'd probably rather an S2k or boxster S (hate away) for half the money if I were going to get a roadster.paint sucksComment

Stealthy and makes great sounds. Heavy, but well balanced. You take it for what it is, a great package but not terribly economical. It has pleasing lines and some old school character, five years 55k miles later and I'm still enjoying every mile.

Im with matt on this on. the z8 has never done anything for me. back when they were new there was/is a guy in my dad's neighborhood that owns an Alpina one. never really liked the look. idk where he lives but i see it about once a month.
if the e34 came is 2D i'd have been all up on that years ago.Comment

Sold my swapped E30 to another enthusiast to put a new roof over my head. Sad that I didn't get a chance to bring it to Bimmerfest... :-(
In time, I will build another one. I am disappointed at myself for letting her go. But the price was too good to say no to.
All E30 parts that I have left, sold for $20 guys. A/C compressors, Tan complete vinyl rear seats, no tears, natural beige rear seat in leather, grey leather complete set.
hood latches, ash trays center console and what not... will be fixing my for sale thread again to update everything. everything pick up in walnut creekYour signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Guys a bit of advice would be appreciated. I found a 93 525i with a blown tranny and shit paint/interior for a grand. I talked to the owner and he doesn't know BMW's and just wants it out of his yard. My feeling is I could have it for $500. He claims the engine was rebuilt by the PO who was a mechanic, and has receipts for parts and such. I'd go over with a compression tester and check it out. Since it's an e34 I already have many of the major parts I'd need for the swap. Figure I have a budget of ~1500 (could also part out/pnp the e34) for a BAR-ready swap. Should I go for it?
This is all assuming replacing my oil pump on the m42 doesn't work. The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Gonna come straight at you.
you couldn't swap an identical engine correctly. why do you think a swap+bar is something you can do? you have a very limited tool selection and no one to help.
if i were you i'd put the pump in and if that doesnt work, tow your car to someone that will make it work. and put that $1500 into a know good runner.
