Because the m20 in my green coupe is ready to shit its guts out, so I need to replace it with something. $2.5k for a rebuilt m30 would be super reasonable, pushing close to $5k just seems foolish.

    I'm really leaning toward a low boost (8psi) m20.

Plans to leave CA within the 2 year smog gap, so running a stock m20 until smog and then boost prep seems like a reasonable idea...

but yeah for daily id go boring. It needs to work every single time you use it and stock is just easy for that

My DD is now an 89 alpine 4-door auto. I plan to put the Bilstien/H&R Sport from the coupe onto it, maybe toss in a 5-speed, and call it a day.

The green coupe is going to be the weekend/occasional work day toy. As wworm said, I can toss in a clean stock m20, smog in feb, then have 2 years to either figure out smog or leave CA. Leaving within 18 months seems highly likely.

A daily 4 door 325i with a basic stuff and working A/C is perfect. I’m considering “softening “ my suspension setup because Inglewoods roads are terrible. Might be time to raise the car...like really raise it lol. Who’s got some OEM E36 Springs laying around?

It's auto. As a daily driver auto is way better. Plus the automatic in this car is fantastic.
Melbourne red, oyster dakota leather, adaptive suspension, m3 brakes, and m sport wheels. I did want a 4runner but they are a bit too big to daily drive and my wife wanted a sports car.

Just a general question, but has anyone coated their exhaust manifolds? Cerakote or Jet Hot? Is there anywhere here in Nor-Cal that does this?

                            Thanks!

Coating the manifolds never lasts. They get too hot and it ends up pealing off. You are best off wire brushing them and then just leaving them alone. Or get long tube headers, like me.

I have a jet-hot coated (silver) exhaust manifold on my Peugeot.

It cost $350 at Ducati of Beverly Hills but they did a damn good job and it still looks nice.
