My process was painstaking stripping and sanding. Painstaking Primering, filling, and sanding. Then impatient painting that resulted in a few runs that I tried to fix while still wet and making it much worse. I always go for one more pass. Same way I butter my toast! It was like being on a plane that's going down in flames and instead of bailing out staying on and trying to put the fire out with gasoline!
I have the sport/sport. It needs to be lower but it rides nice and is a cheap setup.

Yeah, screw painting. The rock chips give it character.

Is the pic in your sport sport? I like that ride height. I dont want it to be slammed. My stock sus corners like a caddy, but I'm fast in, roll horribly, fast out!

Everyone needs to watch this week's Top Gear UK episode. The challenge involves 3 e30 verts.

There is slight reverse rake. I have all front/rear spring pads.

I have no good pics of my car's side profile (probably because my E30 is not immaculate, like Brad's), but here is H&R race on Billy Sports:

For some height comparison, look at my front valence, and imagine it with an iS lip like Brad has, and imagine how low it would be, just for a comparison. it is hard to tell with these cars in different pics and angles.

and to each their own, but the H&R races aren't too stiff imho, I would trade them in a second for GCs w/ higher spring rates and 1" lower all around. Also, to get rid of some reverse rake, get E90 spring hats, they are $20 for a pair, and lower the front of the car another 3/8" to 1/2", which is actually noticeable. May as well toss those in if you are taking your suspension apart anyway, is my thought... NOTE: the above pics are with STOCK spring hats, not the E90 hats. I haven't taken pics of my car yet w/ the E90 hats, my car is just not worth taking pictures of lately...

More low does not equal more better.

I wish my car was an inch or more higher. It's too damn low.

Huh. Races would be nice. I would like to have as much fun as possible on the few good turns on the way to work. I drive on I-270 every time I go to work though and it sucks on stock suspension. I think the determining factor will be what I can find cheap. Either way I'll do the E90 hats.

I still need to rebuild my calipers, repair torn E21 Recaro, pickup a ICS control unit and relay, fix my sunroof, find a bike rack, tint windows and vinyl wrap my peeling clear on the roof, fix A/C (it's electrical), get tires for my BBS's. I figure I'll source suspension when I get my tires. So much work.

I'll miss Top Gear tomorrow night. ARGGHHHH. Missed it last week too. Nothing on On Demand yet either. Booo. Good E30 content in the latest Roundel though...

H&R sports with a slight upgrade in sway bars is VERY effective in turns. I have great fun with the 225's in the summer. There really isn't much more needed for public roads. I have not once wanted new springs to get better turning on a DD. The only thing that bothers me is the progressive rate range is too great. Slow turns makes your car seem like you have a lot of body roll but if you push the car it will turn great. That is whats great about linear springs. If I were you I would shoot for H&R races and konis off the bat.

Does anyone have the special wrench to do the middle brake lines? Has anyone done it without dropping the subframe?

I assume your talking the middle soft lines?I've done them without droping anything, and I didn't have any special wrenches. It's tight but doable. I did it on the m3, and need to do them on the 325 now...thanks for the reminder! I took the diff out yesterday, I wonder if that will make it easier.

I'd go hr sport/bs. IMO that's the best street set up, especially for the price. I've had the sports, races, and am now running ground control coilovers with stupid stiff springs. Problem is that with the bumpy roads here, especially on turns, they are too stiff to absorb the bumps and you get tossed around and lose contact with the pavement! Hit a bump in a turn, and it really upsets the cars balance.

Maybe I'm getting lame, or old (just turned 30!) but I actually just ordered softer springs!

Does anyone have a hood for sale? I am getting close to repainting and want to find a hood that actually has the sprayers in it still. Driving around after the snow has melted has been downright dangerous! I would use the one off of my parts car but it is dented in a few places...
