2nd- around 1400 and will take all the trim off, bumpers, lights, etc and body work all around but wont take the windows out so they will mask the rubber...

3rd-... well from 3400-3800... but completely strip the car, take all trims off, windows, etc,etc.. so when it comes out will be quality at its best.. just when it came out the dealership...

    SOOO what you think???

ORRRRR..... we can paint it in the paint shop that me and Ross are going to set up. It will be the best quality paint job per dollar, I can guarantee you that. If Ross dips out for any reason, I am still wanting to set up a paint booth in my garage. I have been planning this for several years now, and I now finally have a garage.

Ross or I can paint, I would get my paint from the auto paint supply in FoCo, they sell popular auto paint brands, and do custom mixing etc. But don't worry, I will practice complete paint jobs on some of my cars first, or I will buy a car to paint or something. I want to start painting this summer. Ross already has all the paint gear, I have a compressor, we just need the disposables, like plastic sheeting, tons of sandpaer, tape, buffing compound etc etc. And I am a firm believer in removing everything you can when you paint a car.

I'd like to this summer, but with summer classes packed to the brim, we will have to see when this can actually take place. I know there is a chunk of summer where there are no classes in session.

also, I have painted an entire car once in a home-made paint booth, with aerosol cans, ha ha, but I have learned alot since then, and I have done alot of painting with random detached body parts w/ aerosol, I have never messed w/ a paint gun, nor have I painted a car w/ a paint gun, but I know how the process works, I just need practice, which I will get on one of my cars. It's 99% prep and 1% spray, just don't get runs.

However, runs can happen, and when they do start, STOP painting over it!! It will not "cover" the run, it will only make it instantly worse. In fact, the best thing you can do for a run is instantly blast hot air on it, like from a heat gun or something. It will make the paint more viscous, and will slow the run. If it still looks bad, the only thing you can do is paint the rest of the car, wait a few days, then wetsand and buff the run, then clear. If it's a BIG run, may as well stop painting, wait a few days, sand down and re-paint, starting from square one. That's right. One run on one body panel will make you re-spray the WHOLE car.

For those really geeky and VERY bored people, my wife is doing part of the commentary for the Stardust mission encounter on NASA TV tonight. Basically they are going to a second comet. The "news briefing" is at 8-9 and the "live commentary" is scheduled 9:30-11 . She doesn't know how much she will be talking or when. You can watch it online streaming if you are interested.

This is the NASA TV site

NASA live: Follow live television broadcasts on NASA+, the agency's streaming service, and NASA's social media channels with this schedule of upcoming live events including news briefings, launches and landings.

She said it is in HD. No idea if the streaming just turns to HD when it starts or what's the deal. Still trying to figure that one out.
