Yea, I'm not sure what brand it is, but I think it is a stereolithography machine. There's a bunch of different methods for 3D, but I think the ITLL is an stl.

Then again, I could be totally wrong. Maybe call them?

I will do some reading first to see what I find and call if I need to. We are trying to find one for work so I thought it would be a good start.

I found a bunch of info. Basically 'real' STL machines are generally used for production only as they run in the six figures. "3D printing" uses the same concept but has lower quality. I found some machines that will work for our R&D lab. Hopefully we can get it because it would be totally awesome to print out 3D parts.

STL format was developed by 3D Systems Inc, the inventors of stereolithography. My company had one of their $$$ SLS machines in the mid 90s. (it was a 2x2ft model I recall). It was the coolest thing to be able to create 3D parts/designs in the CAD system and 'print' them in 3D on that thing. (mostly plastic, though in rarer occasions some type of sintered metallic stuff). We used it for visualization/communication of prototypes designs and complex interfaces, some reverse engineering of existing parts (in combo with a 3D digitizer), and for customer 'demos' ;-). Never used it to produce anything used in a product tho'. I've also been following with avid interest the many recent "Maker Faire" developments of much lower cost desktop 3D printers...

So, who won that debate last night?

I only watched a few minutes of it, and it seemed that Ryan was on top of it and Biden was just laughing it off. Content-wise, I am pretty clueless.

                              My opinion:

                              -Ryan looked/acted professional
-Biden was completely unprofessional and I can't believe he is the current VP
-Ryan seamed to be holding back. He's a numbers guy and I'm guessing his team coached him to dumbing things down for "the american people" Search youtube for him schooling Obama on his obamacare bill.
-Biden did a good job at attacking Ryan
-Biden did not present new ideas, just attacked the Romney/Ryan ticket
-Moderator lady cornered and questioned Ryan more than she did Biden
-Moderator lady looked haggard. I guess even reporting in a combat zone takes it's toll on you.

-Ultimately I think Biden came out swinging after Obama's terrible performance last debate, and Ryan was playing it a bit safe to not loose the bump Romney got from his performance last week.
