Him: how long have you owned the E30

Me: Not terribly long, why?

Him: Want to see if you are a craigslist flipper or have owned the car. It's becoming illegal to curb cars and its a nightmare to title

Me: I bought this car for my brother but he has found another car he wants more. Title is clear and ready for transfer.

Him: Not in your name?

Me: No seller signed it over to me. I never registered it. Makes no difference on your end.

Him: Yes it does. Your curbing the car. Good luck with the sale. No thank you



And I didn't respond. Just figgered i'd toss this convo up here.

I had a similar situation on my motorcycle I bought. I found some sources saying that it was illegal to "skip" ownership without a dealers license, and some that said it didn't matter.

I ended up talking to the DMV before I bought it and they didn't seem to care either way. However, if the PO signed the date when signing it off you will have to pay fees for back registration once you get plates for it. The DMV said the easiest thing in the future is to always title the car/motorcycle but don't get plates for it. That way you have the title in your name and are only changed the title fee and not taxes/registration fees.

That's very interesting. I'm so invested in my iPad that I'm stuck with Harry's Lap Timer Pro (as finicky as it is) for next year at least.

Did a test run with OBD II data on a fictional autoX course in the Roady last weekend. My car seems to attract a lot of attention and the police station was down the street so I couldn't get on it too hard.

In realtime the OBK II data is smooth and accurate. In the data overlay, it's super spotty. I'm sure there is a fix or a settings parameter. I've been bogged down with too much school work to research it.

I need to beef up my stereo blank as the mount vibrates a little too much. I used two GoPro feet back to back and a full size iPad tripod mount turned sideways to mount the iPad mini. OBD II connects with bluetooth. GPS connects through the lightning plug and makes it so I can charge the iPad through a 12V to USB cord. I can also listen to music and have GPS maps on the way to the track. Pretty cool.

Cant blame him....no way I would ever give someone cash without seeing ID matching the title. Nothing against flipping (I've done lots) but I don't hand over cash unless things match up.

Anyone know when the F30 wagon is available? Will the 2.0 diesel be available with 3 pedals? Got a new job with a 900/mth car allowance, so thinking that's what I'll get.

So far they are supposed to release the diesel wagons in "late 2013". Nothing has been confirmed but most rumors are saying that it will only be the 2.0 diesel and only an automatic. It will be offered in M-sport too, just like in Europe.

Apparently the gas model will only be the 328i 8-speed. Again, it's all rumors at this point and powertrains are not official. The gas touring will be out in "spring 2013".

....I've been following this a lot because we will are very interesting in getting a M-sport touring diesel and preferably AWD.

Yooooo! What's up Ian. I would be willing to bet the new F30 will not come close to your E39 in terms of driver satisfaction. Manuals are on the way out. In 10 years we'll all be reminiscing about the days when you could buy a manual. Shame...

Saw a E36 M3 Dakar coupe today pass through the gas station off 44th and McNityire today. Lowered And sounded like a aftermarket exhaust. Any ideas who it might be. I was pumping gas in my MK3 and kinda staring like a weirdo haha. Wanted to apologize haha
