Thanks for the answer, Brutus. Now I just need to find an IS lip in lachssilber...

For your repaint, did you just paint the outside shell, or did you stripe out everything? What kind of prep work did you do and how did the lachssilber come out? From the pictures, it looks really nice.

Yea, get one from Blunttech, he only charges 115 shipped!
As for painting the lip, go to any Napa, or call around, a lot of paint places can make you OEM color match lachs in a can for about 15 a can. Thanks, yes I stripped everything pretty much! Its a helluva lot of work, but I think worth it.

anyone know where you can purchase a brand new intake boot locally? ive checked a couple spots (O reilys, NAPA) and they dont seem to carry this part for our cars...

and im not tryna hit the dealership, because they rape their prices...

hmm ill have to look into DIP...only reason i ask is because mine has huge rips, causing a vacuum leak (i think thats the issue), and i have to do emissions tomorrow, and i hope the vac leak wont give me any problems passing.

do you know if the vac leak will cause me to fail?

                Borrow one maybe? What engine?

Yes, a vac leak can make it difficult to pass.

Yep a vacuum leak will cause your engine to run poorly. Maybe you can borrow one from a friend to do the test? What year/engine? I have several here. $25 shipped

As red neck as it sounds, good duct tape will get you through till you can get it replaced

thanks for all the replies fellas! i appreciate the responses.

I said fcuk it and went to BMW of Bellevue today and bought the boot. replaced it, and it still has a weird idle. no other cracks or rips i could find?? and i tried to do emissions and failed horribly.... my HC (PPM) was @ 638....the limit in WA is 220... i did spark plugs, boot, and threw some injector cleaner in...

                      any ideas?!

How would you describe "weird idle"? Is It hunting? Missing?

My car has a bit of a "funny" idle, sort of like it's mildly missing every so often. I replaced all the vac lines, did plugs, wires, cleaned the icv, etc and it still does it.

The dealer has a price that it says in the computer. they also have a bottom price that they will give if its someone that buys allot of stuff. As well i believe there is an BMWCCA price.

I went in for drop hats, he said 35 each or so, i said really, dang, i heard of guys getting them for 25 for the set. He asked where and i told him on my E30 forum. I asked him if there was anything he could do to help me out, he asked me why he should and i said because i've got a 25 year old bimmer that needs allot of parts and this is the place to get them, you'll get my money and i could go for you throwing me a bone. i think i got them for 22 bucks or so.

                            never hurts to ask

(sorry, had a few beers if that was hard to follow)

How hard is it to remove the driver's side fuel sending unit on late model cars? Similar to the passenger side one?
