Also, anyone know somebody who's owned/driven a Corvair? Thinking of selling the TR for a 65/66 Corvair convertible for some more seats (and less flipping over than the first gen ones)

No. don't do it. My buddy has a 65 Monza Spyder. I dread the phone call when he asks me to work on it.

65/66 are the most desirable year, what makes you pine working on it, just awkward to get to bits? I'm interested in going back to a 4 seat convertible and there really aren't many cars these days that interest me in the least.

On a different note, met a girl last night who has an "old BMW" that she works on. Turns out it's a 91 318iS. We got along famously.

For one: it's american. Second: it's a quirky old american car. His is a pile of shit that's begging for a full resto. It has oil coming from everywhere, electrical gremlins, and horrible brakes. For the price of a decent Corvair there are a lot of other better options IMO.

When it comes to old convertibles that aren't boats there really aren't many options. Especially if you want four seats. I think that my TR4a is about as good as the two-seaters get, but the space is getting to me a little bit, hardly room for a damn thing. Not interested in any Pony cars, have any interesting suggestions?

Off the top my head I cant really think of anything that wouldn't break the bank. Most good convertibles are pretty small.

Just don't want something that's a tank. 65/66 Ford Falcons are alright, but nothing special or unique like a Corvair

$4120, still no payment. I tried to open a claim or whatever, but it told me to wait until today...

Joel, you are already thinking of selling the Triumph?!?! You really need to settle down and think before you buy cars. I thought I was bad getting a new car annually....

I actually hadn't really thought of selling it until driving home the other night and some guy yells out the window "Hey, nice car! Would you think about selling it?"

At 1am in near pitch black he offered me more than 2 grand over what I paid and it got me thinking. I wouldn't sell it for that little since I've got a bit of cash in it, but if I could move it for $6-7k more than I paid, what sort of car could I get. And limiting myself to convertibles that are somewhat sporty, it's a short list. And since getting the TR I've missed being able to fill up the car and take people out, I sold the 900 before I really had friends down here to utilize a 4 seat vert.
