Agreed. The technician said they handle very, very well. But..they're not a true M car IMO.

I like the new wheels. It make you car look a little more modern (in a good way!)

Exactly. And just like a 99-2000 Z3M roadster or coupe.

Why don't you think they're real M cars?
Is it the hand built part they're missing?

Because it doesn't have ITB's. It's the exact same motor that's in a Z4 35iS, or a 335iS. The motor wasn't built in the Motorsport factory, as it was built in the factory where every other BMW motor is built/designed. It's not an M, and we had a BMW M employee swing by a couple months back and say the same exact thing. And yes, he was from the motherland, not South Carolina.

E30 m3s weren't handbuilt. They were produced on the same line as all the other e30s, then pulled off and finished separately. (iirc)

                    Wasn't the last handbuilt m-car the e28 m5?

I never said they had to be hand built (read above). Do M20s have ITBs? Does the S14 have ITB's?

I know, I was replying to Brutus. It being handbuilt is not part of the M car criteria. If it were, all M cars after the e28 m5 wouldn't be "real" m cars. And we know that's not the case.

Actually, the last handbuilt "M" car was the E34 M5.
