What Credit Union/Bank did you use to finance this? It had to be a local one, because that is pretty strong for the year of the car.

Nice, I often buy my cars from the coast, thats a 10 hour drive or so for me. It's a nice bonding period, safe travels.

No i actually have not, would it be a better trip/drive than taking 40/15/83/90? Im not really that interested in SLC so i guess i could head straight west and take PCH up from there, how long does it generally take from bottom to top? I was planning on flying into Albuquerque on Saturday and hitting the road the same day. Was looking to reach seattle by tuesday night.

I used to be a contractor for the dept of justice so i use their credit union, justice federal CU. They didn't give me an issue with the price for the year, i think they base it on nada value, and the assumption that its above 'fair' condition.

I had to send him pics of the car and i honestly thought there would be an issue with the bondo door handles and unpainted lip, but it still got approved. Actually surprised me as well.

oh right, duh my bad, but in all seriousness tho isn't the german used e30 market pretty good? I would have thought someone would be able to find a decent e30 m3 easier there than in the states.

From what I understand it's getting difficult to find a clean/rust-free e30 over there, regular and especially m3.

Highway 1 is a beautiful scenic drive and has some nice twisties. If you are flying in on Saturday, you could be in LA by the end of the day. Its 800 miles and its ambitious, but its not impossible. Get a good nights rest and head up 1 early in the day and call it a night wherever in San Francisco, then Monday morning hit the road and get on Highway 5 and enjoy the final 800 miles home.

It will be a little exhausting, but when you make it home in one piece with your new M3 Im sure you will feel good.

I did kind of the opposite with my E30. I ended up moving to LA in the middle of the M52 build and had KD Motorsports finish it off, I flew one way into Sea Tac and drove it 1200 miles home the following morning. Stopped at my parents house in the Bay Area. Fun drive. The further you get, the more confidence you will get. I had my car maxed out a few times on the drive. Theres a great spot after you leave San Francisco, you'll be on the 80, then the 505 and that connects to the 5. You will have about 30 miles before the 5.

Yeah, I was referring to the guy who posted about Germany. Believe it or not, people across the globe are buying US cars and having them shipped out. Rust issues, Euro vs USD rates are a couple of reasons why. I just helped a friend of mine send several gray market euro e24's back to Europe. I truly believe the escalating price of clean M3's in Europe, escalated the values here as well. I'm betting more US spec cars survived over 30 years vs europe. US M3's are all fully equipped too vs a la carte euro spec M3's.

Yea i did actually see that, he did a seperate s14.net thread when he bought it last year too. Its an interesting read to find out how he found the car and all the history of what the PO to him did to it.

The s14.net thread lists that he paid 12 for it, and honestly, i don't entirely blame him for the upsale, i still think 22 is a great price for what im getting and where the prices are now and all the engine work. 105 on the chassis is really low all things considered.

The thing that bugs me the most is how bastardized the interior is with all the audio crap the PO to the PO put in, like torn rear bench to accommodate a cd changer, the gutted headrests to accommodate rear facing tv monitors and cut trunk carpet to accommodate a subwoofer.

Oh great, and now my CU wants an appraisal done to the car before they send the check to the seller, how much do appraisals usually cost? I just called one place in Albuquerque and guy quoted me $132, is that good?

Not sure about the appraisal, but when I got a loan for mine I made sure to provide a number of comps, e30's for sale/sold recently.

yea thats very true but im not really worried about the appraisal value, i think it should be fine. Its odd that they asked for this because when i got a loan for my 91 e30 325 build, they had no issue with it lol

If you are coming through Boise and need some help, let us know. I would go over to the PCH, much nicer and cooler drive:). Between SLC and Boise, not much to see:).
Have fun with the car, and change all the fluids before you leave NM.
