I havn't really seen any recently for the same money, especially considering the engine work done. There was a recent 88 AW m3 in albany NY that just listed for 29, with more miles on the chassis

I just jumped at the engine with and low chassis miles at around 20, thought that was pretty decent for where the market is right now.

Hard to say if it's good or bad since there are many factors. I think the 2.5 rebuild is a big plus but it depends on what was done. If it's just the turner kit then that's no biggy..HP wise but at least the engine was rebuilt hopefully the right way. Having metal plates welded in the doors is a big deal and sounds like a big PITA trying to convert it back to stock. Just depends on how much you can get stuff done for.

just added a poll, im not sure what to do about the door handles, if they are really done well, should i just keep them as-is, or should i got to stock at any cost. What do you guys think, I am leaning towards the latter.

Just cut the door handle area off any e30 at the junk yard, and go from there. You have a body line to work with, so it's not that hard for any competant shop to make it happen.

Instead of cutting through Oregon, take 55 north from Boise, then when it meets up with 95, take that up to Coeur d'Alene and then over on 90.

The 55 and 95 through Idaho is gorgeous and much more exciting than Oregon.

Ive been thinking about your door handle situation and I think you can take advantage of this opportunity to do something a little different and unique without going the way of shaved ....

back in the day the Audi 90 door handles were THE item to swap, they used to sell kits to convert VWs. You might be able to find a kit still. I tried looking for a minute but then realized what I was doing and stopped. The look is pretty similar to the E30, but would be more of a flush fit.

like I said, thinking outside of the box. I try to take advantage of DAPO mods to try and make it into a nice thing. Your car, your call

That was my car. Was a nice car had a ton of upgrades. Sold for what I expected it to go for. Was less than I was asking but that price was to weed out the normal first question,

What is the lowest you will go.... which I would follow up with a normal Click.

Keep the original doors and mount non oem on there. We in the US get so bent out of shape about an original panel car. Cars in Europe never got vin stickers on them. It's nice to have an original car but life doesn't always work that way.

Kinda like if I was to sell my Zinno M3, it doesn't have oem springs they are long gone. Someone in DC has them in their Vert.

Not to derail this but having just moved back from there I can assure you that the prices of M cars over there is higher than it is here. Have a casual look on mobile.de or autoscout24.de

E34 M5s still pretty reasonable and all the e30 tourings you could ever want.

No sorry i changed the route from what i had previously planned. I should have updated the thread before i left. I instead opted to head west thru Arizona and then to cali and north thru cali and oregon on the 101/1 and then finish on 5. i would like to make an idaho trip soon though.

Yea sorry many updates actually, i forgot to make updates while on the road but got home late last night,

I changed the route plan to instead head west and take the PCH north as per a suggestion from here and it turned out to be an absolute blast.

My friend went with me to pick the car up. We landed in ABQ at around 2:30 saturday. Guy picked us up in the car from the airport, super super nice guy btw. Drove the car back, felt great, first time having driven an e30 m3 and first time with the s14 so was eager to drive it. Got back to his house and started sorting through the car.

First thing i noticed from fishing around in the trunk

The PO to the PO was a big audio guy and, in addition to being a door handle shaving loon, had installed two big sub's where the spare tire well was. He had liquid-nailed a circular piece of particleboard to the tire well and cut holes in the trunk mat where these things sat. He then used wood screws to ensure the board wouldn't move, even with the glue. So first step was to remove that shit and actually put the spare tire back where its supposed to go. The mount where the spare tire bracket is supposed to be appears to be unfortunately removed and there is a thin layer of some sort of epoxy that encounpases the entire inner diameter of the well. Im not sure if this was done to produce better acoustics or what but he sure put a lot of work into bastardizing this boot. Once that was sorted and my stuff was packed away proper, i moved onto an oil change:

First time getting my hands dirty on the car! The s14 seems pretty easy to work on so far, having only done the stupid simple job of changing the oil, it was still easier to remove the air intake with 2 nuts and one hose clamp from the intake manifold. And pop, comes right off, easy access to the filter from there. The owner made us some food and we hit the road from there, here's our first gas fillup of freedom:

Here is leg 1 of the trip that we did on saturday night and continued on sunday morning.

We left Albuquerque at around 9 and headed to Flagstaff for the night and then to the grand canyon in the morning for some sights. Turned out to be not that bad of an idea, having never been to the GC before, it was pretty amazing.

The drive through AZ 180 through Kaibab national forest was great too, very sunny.
