There's no way I could wet sand into all the little creases, corners and valleys in an engine bay.

No, but you could at least wet-sand the large surfaces if you want to try to save the paint.

          We need pics.
How extensive is it? Just in the newly worked areas?
You'll probably need to leave it for a day and come back to it, there's a chance it may be salvageable.

You shouldn't need to do test areas and leaving it for a day shouldn't cause problems like this either, they should have sold you compatible paint.

If the sheet metal didn't wrinkle but the car did, I don't think he'll get a refund.

              sux to be you

edit: looks like the places you prepped the best came out the best.

What it looks like is all the places I primered came out the best. I'm really fucking pissed that he told me I shouldn't have to primer everywhere, just to scuff the existing paint.

Pretty much the only thing I can do at this point is sand everything down, primer the WHOLE bay, and then paint again. Will I have to completely strip everything down to bare metal, or can I just thoroughly sand the paint down and primer over it?

You could thoroughly sand down the whole bay and primer over it.

You may even be able to sand the clear coat off leaving the black base coat on and go back over the whole bay with a single stage black paint or try again with a clear coat.

Actually I just had sex 30 min ago so I'm good.

You want to sand things down fairly far then primer over it for a good base. Etch primer anything bare metal though. Or else it'll peel.

You'll get it man. Don't take me too personally. My car is a pile of ass when it comes to paint.

Do the cans of paint tell you what type of paint it is?
                        As, Enamel colour/lacquer clear?

The clear says it's acrylic, the paint doesn't say what it is. The Paint was DupliColor Brite Touch gloss black, and the clear was DuPoint Acrylic clear.

I have a friend of a friend who does body and paint work, going to see what he'd charge me to strip it all down and re-prep/paint it for me. I'm done trying to do this kind of thing myself.
