yes you can get ebay headers in and out with the engine in the car. It takes a little wiggling but its not that bad. I had ebay header and pulled them out and went obdII headers. If that is what you hve now, stick with those. The ebay headers are pretty raspy.

The rest of the exhaust has a lot to do with that also though.

Has anyone tried putting the m5 and 535 motor mounts next to eachother, I wonder how much taller the 535 is...

From what I heard they are relatively the same diameter/tolerance levels. The m5 came with a 3.6 litre which weighed in probably only 20-50 lbs heavier (or lighter) than the m30b35 in the 535i/is... "so I think". Lol.

Note to self: Never put the fuel injector rails + fuel injector harness before bolting down the intake manifold... because you'll never get the last screw for the intake manifold against the firewall.... God its so tight in there!!!

P.S. - shimming the motor IS A MUST to clear the intake manifold using a ix/7 series booster.

Get a 1/4 drive and you should be all good for getting that in there. put some paper between the nut and the ratchet so it stays in there since you can't get your hand in there and you should be golden.

Yeah, I know what motors came in what. I'm just wondering cuz I know mine's higher than 2 inches and that's w/ the Ireland stage 3's on it w/ 535 mounts.

As for shimming, its just putting a washer or piece of metal underneath the motor mount to tweak the placement up higher on that side.

This might be a silly question but does the CHECK lights still work properly after the swap as well as the cluster warning lights???

As long as it's done correctly, yes.

                            Here's the update!

A picture of my ghetto jimmy rigged e30 temp sensor for my cluster. I live in socal so I deleted my coolant lines to my throttle body as temperatures here in So Cal don't really get that cold (818).

Picture of my 24lb Bosch injectors.

And here's where I am so far... just really small stuff to connect like throttle body boot, hfm, and I need obd1 mid pipes. Anyone got any?

Looking good. I'm guessing that the coolant port is a different fitting than the Temp gauge... Good temporary fix, looks like it'll do the job nicely. I'm guessin you figured out the screw, that's a bitch w/o a 1/4 set.

Yea, what I did was disconnected the injector harness from the injectors and set that aside. Then unbolted the mounting bolts for the fuel rail and slid it upward. Amazingly enough it was so much room that I got the bolt with ease with my 3/8, foot long swivel extension. I'm soooo close. I could smell the fumes. LOL
