The "actual" one turned-out perfect, better than I would have expected. It was $80 for printing, $25 for shipping and then another $40 for the tariff that I was promised I wouldn't be paying (but did...)

I'm having the oil pickup printed out of glass filled ULTEM.

This is WAY BETTER than needing to turn a bung on a lathe and fabricate a bunch of crap for a pickup, plus this locates the intake in a much better position.

This pan is coming along well enough that I'll do the CAD so most of it can be bent out of 5053 and ready to assemble like the steel one was.

Concept for the pickup screen. #14 mesh will be bonded between the two halves. Printed in CF-Nylon I think.

It got kicked-back because my file had "too many sharp edges".... I guess that happens during conversion to STL, but the STEP file is fine so off to printing....

I can't believe this didn't occur to me... great work!

I'm working on an aluminum version of the pan, just because... The fun part is that hopefully I can solve the oil pickup issue once and for all. Instead of "figure it out" it will be 3d printed and will have much better pickup placement.

Panici The front bracket is the "magic". it bolts to the core support and provides the fingers that slide into the receiver on the tray, which is a stack of 0.100" aluminum (see post above). The rear has M6 pan head bolts that go into a plate that's bolted through the power steering rack bolts.

So, taking it on and off is barely an inconvenience, but at the same time it's strong A.F. If I ever do mangle it I won't be taking the core support out with it, I'll just order new pieces from SCS.

I added the M20 sensor only to have my check panel work. I confirmed it works with hoveringuy's pan today. Wasn't working at first, level float or whatever is inside wasn't sliding properly. Soaked/flushed with gas and degreaser, should've seen the crap came out from 30 years of use. Re-installed and works properly now. I have 3 flanges left, ordered enough to prevent paying the minimum order fee with SCS. They have some surface rust from but should cleanup fine. I will mail if anyone needs one, just weld it slow. I warped one on my first try. I also have the CAD file, if someone wants that. Not much of a contribution but took me forever to draw regardless, just need to select the option to have M6 studs pressed in when you order.

It's a lot of complication in the pan where there's not a lot of room for recessing that sensor. I added an M50 dipstick that's way more accurate than the electronic sensor and I change my oil every season anyway. The ONLY thing I miss is that it also reads oil temperature.

I'm not sure how valuable it would be without the E90 cluster. Probably better to put an M20 one in? No expert though. I have a dipstick.
